Ok, take this FWIW. I have a decent source connected to the Michigan athletic department. He stated to me in an in e-mail this evening that Ferentz had been offered the job and this evening he accepted. The final details and announcement will come in 24-48 hours. MH check your PM and I'll explain this one to you. I'm not convinced on this, but this source has credibility. I hope he's not playing me. I'll take the heat if this is wrong.

I saw during the LSU-Arkansas game that he said something at the weekly press conference last week. One of those "I like my current job....we (LSU) still have a goal we are trying to achieve" type answers.

A very dear friend of mine is Les' sister in law. Her sister is Kathy, his wife. I was even invited to the bowl game last year but had to decline. I don't know anything but when i talked to her yesterday, the job was not offered yet.
I honestly don't think anyone would leak any kind of information at this point with recruiting starting Dec 1st.

You've got John Miller going on TV citing a blog who's only source is this site. We're not even trying to keep the joke going, and they STILL aren't smart enough to figure it out.

I don't know what "dream" MH and WO had for this place when they started it. If it was to actually have it be a credible, serious source for Iowa Athletic information, while these last 48 hours or so have increased our profile many times over, it's set our credibility back a considerable distance. That's too bad, because there was good information posted, and that good information has been used to a significant degree in advancing an interesting story, but what will be remembered is that it was "all" a joke.
If the goal was just to have a place where a large number of Iowa fans can come together and discuss whatever, then this has been a big few days.

I personally don't think that this site could ever be considered "inaccurate", as no individual poster speaks for the site as a whole. A message board is nothing more than a community of fans, each with their own viewpoint (or legitimacy). To attribute the what one poster has done to the entire site is to fundamentally misunderstand the nature of message boards altogether.
There will be many who may dismiss this site and it's members due to ESS's rumor, but really there's nothing that can be done about that. People will post rumors, and it's up to the reader to determine what they choose to believe. We may feature a particular poster;s work from time to time, but that individual's work will always stand alone.
There was never any "dream" beyond trying to set up an alternative home for our group of people. We'd like to be a place for serious Hawkeye discussion, and I think we've achieved that. Obviously, over time we'd like to grow and offer more than just message boards, but everything in due time.

I think it was a funny bit, and got some attention, but I agree, that the info provided by DGHawk was not covered at all, which is kind of a surprise, especially since it is pinned to the top of the Football board.
I did honestly send Jon M. the link to this thread to point out to him that some legit info was being discussed over here.
We'll see if he picks up on it. I do understand your point, I just think that you also have to be ok with the fact this board is getting noticed.

Based on what I know, I believe DGHawk has good information here.
