His Dad annoys me:
"He used to bench 250; now he can bench 350. He's quicker and faster," Jeff Christensen said. "I imagine they are paying attention to it. Look at his body and imagine what he could do with a bat in his hand now. I imagine a few scouts have."
A lot of things can happen over the next two years. Jeff Christensen pointed to Chicago Cubs infielder Mark DeRosa, who played quarterback at Penn before being drafted out of college.
However, DeRosa also played on the Penn baseball team.
But Jeff Christensen said it wouldn't take Jake long to re-acclimate himself to baseball.
"In high school, he wouldn't see any pitching from Aug. 1 to Nov. 1," Jeff Christensen said. "Then, literally, after seeing 10 pitches at 85 mph, he'd be ripping it. It wouldn't take him long to make the adjustment with a really good minor league batting instructor."

I remember talking to friends of lbchawkeye at one of the game watches this past season. They went back to IC for a game during the fall and they bumped into JC and his dad out together at Sports Column that night.
I just found it somewhat odd that his dad was hanging out with him at a bar downtown at midnight.

Already resorting to baseball is not a good sign for Hawkeye fans.

I gotta agree with ya.
Seriously, why would anyone (especially a parent) even consider having this discussion with the media?
However, I guess some parents have to do more talking then they should.

I wish that some baseball team would draft Jake and sign him to a contract that requires him to give up football.
Just when I start to get happy thinking about football season, I get all sad thinking about watching Jake's struggles for yet another season.

You mean, you don't have trust in Mr. Future All-Big Ten QB™, Jake Christensen?

On the contrary, I think it's a great sign for Hawkeye fans.

I seconded that comment right after Mr. Hawk "said" it and stand by it.

Not when he's your starting quarterback.

Agree. I blame the Cubs for the Hawks struggles. Their suckiness has started to infect the hawk fans who somehow think it's ok to like both,- and we've suffered for it.

I bemoan the fact that ribbing Mr. Hawk about this will likely be relegated to PMs.
