Word is Moeaki broke his foot, out at least 4 weeks. Should be back for the Pitt game I'd guess.

Edit-saw it mentioned in the other thread. My bad.

Not sure what you're getting at here but he is a pretty important piece.

A pretty important piece of a 5th-9th place BT team.

It was a joke. TH got it.

We might want to develop a sense of humor about this upcoming season.

I realize it was a joke. I guess I'm a bit more optimistic than most on the upcoming season. And no, I do not think they are a Rose Bowl contender.

At least it is a position we have some depth.

Myers is a good enough replacement.

Brandon has better hands than Moeaki anyways.

Reisner is a serviceable backup as well. The Hawks can manage this one.

The JC excuse machine has its first theme for 2008.

"Well, he doesn't have Moeaki" will be the excuse early.

"Well, he didn't have a chance to develop timing with Moeaki due to his injury" will be the excuse late.

Bullcrap. This team is going at least 7-5, probably 8-3. Of course JC will look like crap at times, and the defensive backfield will blow some assignments, but the 2008 Hawks are at least one game better than last year.

Add Stross to the excuse list as well.

Gus & Debit: I'm on record having a view of JC much closer to Mr. Hawk's than yours. I think he's a 3rd team/honorable mention guy this year, and a second/third team guy by next year. So, for the moment, I'll put the following in the freezer. One, or several of us, as the case may be, will be dining on it come Thanksgiving:

I certainly hope that pocket presence and a nice combination of accuracy and touch are traits that can be acquired through hard work, practice and experience...unfortunately, I think that they are generally innate. I would love to eat crow about that in Jake's case.
