A decent article and photos:

Looks like both Greene and Stanzi are back on the field.

I read on HawkeyeReport that Stanzi was 17 of 20 in the practice. All eyes will be on the QB at the open practice this weekend.

Mr. Hawk sighting on HR? But for the poor grammar, I'd wonder:

"With a healthy team around him (Jake), he rolls.

What Dominique Douglas, James Cleveland, and injury's (Stross, Bruggleman, Richardson, Tony M, Brodell, Doering missed time with a screw in his foot, Bulaga shoulder, Douglas gone, Cleveland gone) have done to this team and to Jake, is very upsetting.

No one can play effective QB with this scenario. Impossible to get in that pitchers rhythm.

We should be applauding his valor at every turn."

Freaking.Awesome!

Actually, the player(s) I'm most eager to hear about are as follows:

-- Shonne Greene
-- Jewel Hampton (this kid is going to be good)
-- DeMarco Paine
-- Amari Spievey
-- Broderick Binns

I thought Stanzi was more polished and better in the Spring Game...and didn't even get substantial playing time last year?????. I don't have the track record that Ken O'Keefe (aka Bill Walsh) has as a quarterbacking guru so who knows....

I have heard from an extremely reliable source that Jake has 1 or 2 games, if, he makes it through camp with the starting job (to prove himself). I was Jake supporter until I heard this. Coaches are definitely willing to make the change and are none to happy with Jake's personality this year and last.

That's kind of surprising. I've actually thought that, based on the things I've read in the newspaper, attitude was one of JC's few positives last year.

If this is the case, I hope Stanzi wins the job outright. I'm hopeful that Jake can improve (in the same way I'm hopeful that Ron wouldn't advertise his store if we lifted his ban), but if Stanzi's going to get the job, avoiding the QB controversy mid-season is probably better for the program.

I find it hard to believe that games against Maine and Florida International will provide any meaningful litmus test in terms of whether Jake has markedly improved in the areas he needs to. Looking good in those two games won't do much to allay my concerns...he's going to need to look good in the two that follow in order for me to feel comfortable with our QB situation.

Thinking that Jake is going to transform into an all conference QB is akin to believing that these guys really have Bigfoot in their basement freezer. Neither is plausible.

I'm beginning to think that MH is really some 14 year old Pakistani kid who has never seen a football game. It's the only explanation that would explain his thinking on this matter.

That or his slide into meth addiction since his self-imposed exile from HaLo.

There's a video up on www.hawkeyesports.com right now with O'Keefe talking about how great of a leader he is....

When has Kirk Ferentz or his staff ever thrown a player under the bus? Trust me, the coaches or at least Ferentz are more then willing to dump Jake if need be.

I want to believe this, but 2001 and last season suggest otherwise to me.

Yeah, I fixed it. The year a certain other QB on the roster would've led us to at least 2 additional wins.

McCann over Banks was the right call. Banks was good as a change-of-pace quarterback when the defense was forced to adjust, but he still struggled when given more snaps.

Hang on, I need to look up the Hawkeye talking point on that one...oh, here it is.

Come on Gus, Brad Banks didn't know the whole playbook.

If the Iowa football playbook was the entire Harry Potter series, Banks hadn't even gotten to Harry's first trip to Hogwarts.

I think there are three pass plays....

a. Jailbreak screen
b. 10 yard in
c. 5 and 10 yard outs..

Give KOK some credit. Once a game to keep the defense on their toes, we'll throw a deep pass five yards past the receiver.
