I went and watched Drake play Butler last night. If Iowa doesn't beat them it will be a long season. Drake had no offense and Butler running Iowa's offense was getting a lot of open shots.

yep, i just dont see a go-to scorer. gatens is a very versatile player but will not be able to score against good defenders. kelly is a nice compliment as a tall wing but i just dont see a scorers mentality or instincts in him. i also think our rebounding is going to blow, and we dont have a shot blocker.

Ok. I guess I'll be shocked with an easier non-conference schedule and what looks like a well coached team that's not going to turn the ball over if they are worse than a year ago. And for the first time in quite a while I'm excited for Hawkeye basketball.

maybe he assumes that the rest of teams aren't going to suck as bad as the first two cupcakes. just a guess. trailing late in half to UTSA doesn't exactly give me the greatest feeling about this squad.

Michigan State, a popular Final Four pick, had all they could handle from IPFW last night, and were trailing in the second half. Wisconsin struggled with Long Beach State on Sunday, but I guarantee you they win 20-25 games and make the tournament. No team is immune from early season struggles. We're going to see some mistakes. Hopefully those mistakes won't amount to too many early season losses. If we're seeing the same mistakes the first week of January that we're seeing now, then we'll know we're in for a long year. In the here and now, I'm not at all discouraged by the close win over UT-SA.

to be fair i missed four games: the 2nd game of the las vegas tourney. the @ iu game, the vs. minny game, and the vs. wisky game.

we weren't really involved in that many upsets either way.
