Season tips off tonight at 7:00 vs. Charleston Southern, a team that returns 4 starters from a 10-20 squad a year ago. Game is on Mediacom Connections and will be streaming live on bigtennetwork.com. I read that anyone who has a ticket for tomorrow's football game can get in for $10 tonight.

Give us your score prediction for tonight, and feel free to add who you think will lead Iowa in scoring.

Iowa 65, Charleston Southern 49

With Kelly likely sitting out, I think Cyrus Tate leads the way with a double-double: 16 pts, 10 rebs.

I predict I'll be mad as hell listening to another effen game on the radio.

Hawks should win comfortably. Tate and Peterson lead the way, with Gattens not far behind.

I predict that I'll be trying to figure out how to hook my laptop up to my TV so that I don't have to watch the game on an effing small screen.

I predict that I already sent emails to Barta and BTN complaining (respectfully) and got standard responses. :)

BTW - can any of you techno geeks tell me if this is worth the bother? Will the resolution be absolute crap if I hook up my HDTV as a monitor?

What is Kelly's injury?

What is Kelly's injury?

Broken finger on his shooting hand. He's been day-to-day for a week or so now.

Iowa down 7-0 early. This feed is terrible.

I remember the feed being a lot better last year.

I was able to toy with the different speeds for a bit, just so I could check out the quality vs buffering issues, but now none of 'em are working.

What a joke.

I think we will see a lot of driving and kicking out for threes this year.

MikeyJoe

Mac with a slightly veiled shot a Tony Freeman:

"Not as much dribbling around this year. They're moving the ball with the pass or driving at the hoop."

I am sure he will have his freshman moments throughout the season, but Gatens looks to be a good one.

Iowa struggles a bit in the last 5 minutes before half. Up 29-25 at halftime.

I quit the feed and just turned on the radio to listen to Dolph and Bobby. The feed was about 5 minutes behind at one point. Maybe my internet connection just sucks.

Undoubtedly true, but I'm hopeful that our defense will keep us in a lot of games.

I'm surprisingly not having any issues with the feed.

But yeah, Gatens looks really really good. Overall though, the freshman all look to have a lot of talent. I am pleasantly surprised to see how well Brommer moves for a big man. And he is thicker than what I would have thought as well. But Tucker, Gatens, Fuller, and Brommer all look like they will be very solid players for the hawks in the coming years.

Would like to see a little more of Davis and Bawinkel, see what they have to offer as well. From all accounts, both will also be very good. And I'm betting that Cole is still getting back into game shape, as he has only played 5 minutes approximately.

MikeyJoe

From the little I've seen of Bawinkel, I haven't been that impressed.

Yeah - Anthony Tucker....he's got some range.

Gushawk
11-14-2008, 09:14 PM
Watching on Mediacomm...no quality point and our bigs are gonna be very average. Gatens looks really good...Tucker looks pretty good (but needs to work on shot selection). This team could be really good in 2 years if they can pick up a couple decent bangers with a little range and point guard.

MikeyJoe
11-14-2008, 09:23 PM
The one thing this team can do is shoot. They've got at least 4 good perimeter shooters who are a scoring threat from the new 3 point line.

Lord, this feed is terrible.

Hawk_Kegmasters

This stream is worse than balls in my mouth. It got stuck with Tate about half-inch from throwing one down, and the next thing I knew he was shooting a free throw.

HawkLax6
11-14-2008, 09:43 PM
This team could be painful to watch if they are not hitting from outside.

HawkLax6
11-14-2008, 09:51 PM
1) No Lil' Lickliter.
2) No "chips and salsa".
3) Shitty feed.

At least they are 1-0 and one game closer to my 31-0 prediction....

I read yesterday that he's redshirting. Don't ask me why.

Matt Gatens and Anthony Tucker are the real deal, boyz. They should both be starting even after Kelly gets back.

Kelly played tonight and looked good, from what I could see during my crappy stream.

Yes he did, IMO Peterson should sit when he gets back.

When Cole returns it will be interesting to see who starts.

Cole played last night as well. He did not attempt a shot from the floor and missed his only 2 free throw attempts. I think we'll see Jake in the starting 5 and Fuller coming off the bench before long, but other than that, I liked last night's lineup. Peterson, Gatens, Tucker, Tate and Kelly would be my starting 5, with Cole, Fuller, Davis and Brommer all getting good minutes off the bench. Bawkinkel and Palmer getting spot minutes but not in the regular rotation.

I didn't see the game, and Cole didn't sound impressive, but he's a starter by mid season.

Sounds like Lickliter wants to slowly bring him back since he has only been playing for like month or so, and only a week or two without a brace on his knee.
