....why does Iowa let teams pick the ball up half court? .....probably saving 5 to 10 seconds?

That was maddening. I'm not saying you need to go for the steal, but why not just stand there with him so he has to pick it up and then back up to the half court defense?

Wisconsin did it for the last three minutes as well....exactly you do have to attempt to steal it....just make them pick it up.

I wonder really, how much time does it actually save. It always seems awkward when the player has to get the ball from the court. That it takes a few extra seconds to get back into a normal useful playing position.
It's lame that teams do it, and more lame that opponents allow it.

I agree with this, and frankly don't think it is that big of a deal.
The amount of time for the guy to bend over, pick up the ball, get oriented... it's a wash if the guy gets the inbounds and hustles it up the court in 2 seconds.
