but who would like to wager right now that Iowa will get beat by at least two touchdowns in whatever bowl they end up playing in?* I don't care if they lose every game the rest of the season and end up playing the sisters of the poor, that is a risk I'm willing to take.
Come on, this has legendary thread written all over it!
*please note I truly do not wish this on Iowa, unlike many ISU and Iowa fans, I actually wish the other school well.

correct. and they could lost by 3 to Ohio State, and they'll drop 15 spots in the polls. If ND loses to a MAC team, they typically climb several spots.

This WILL happen. If Iowa drops a close one to OSU in Columbus, they're out of the top 15.

I think you are half right, in that the Big Ten has done a masterful job in getting the most money. Unfortunately, that usually means, unfavorable match-ups for the Big Ten. Especially when the Big 10 has had two BCS teams.

I don't think its "hating" to think that Iowa has received many favorable outcomes that could have gone either way(none against ISU, you destroyed us) and that sooner or later those will catch up to you. I'm saying this now so there is a record of my prediction, so i'm not accused of piling on.
I HATE tOSU and would love nothing more than for Iowa to blow them out.

Or maybe the Big 10 is a lot better than people give it credit for. MSU would have blown out Nebraska. Same with Wisky, PSU and Iowa. Texas is overrated as is Oklahoma. Hell a team with a freshman QB almost beat Texas last year.

There is no doubt the Big 12 isn't very good this year, which is the exact same reason ISU is having a better season than expected.

Cincinnati is the best team in Ohio, so you get off easy just playing number 2.
OSU = #2

Absolutely! We need to concentrate one game at a time.

I agree. I've been breaking down IU tape all week, and I've found several weaknesses.
I emailed Kirk my observations.
If Iowa wins, you'll know who to thank.

There is not a quota as to who wins close games, the biggest factor by far is the players' confidence in the situation. That's why we made that last drive, every single one of our players on the field believed that it could happen and played like they expected it.
The only other game that was truly in doubt during the last few minutes was UNI. Michigan ran out a freshman QB who has zero passing ability to run the 2 minute offense, the second I saw him I knew the pick was coming. Ark St never had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead late and the rest of the teams we played were beaten into submission by that point.
The luck factor has been severely overblown, good teams with clutch athletes make their own luck.

I suppose you think that Alabama's future Top 5 draft pick was lucky too when he crushed his blocker into the backfield and blocked that kick. He wasn't, it was a great player making a clutch play. He was able to raise his level of play in the biggest moment.

Incorrect. We'll drop to 11th at worst in the polls (assuming we win until then).
What objective observers see when they watch the Hawkeyes is 'unimpressive, but a win'. They feel it'll only be a matter of time before we don't get that one stop or one turnover (or four) to sink the other team.
Frankly, there are very NO completely overwhelming teams this year. If the Hawkeyes continue to squeek by, for example, and finish undefeated, it's likely we'll be in the NC game and whoever the other team is would be favored by 9 points. It's even likely a 1 loss SEC and/or Big12 team (TX, UF or Bama) would jump us. But even we play the odd man out of that group, they will be favored. Why? We don't dominate on drives. We win enough balance of plays to win.

I have a hard time believing there are 10 teams in the country that could win at Wisconsin, MSU, and Penn St. The big 10 may not have 2 top 5 teams, but top to bottom, the conference is as tough as it gets.

This is very true. When the Big 10 has 2 teams in the Bcs their matchups are much more difficult. They really haul in the money but have helped with the notion the conference is weak. It may be down too , but you're not helping when the #4 Big 10 school is playing the #2 SEC or Big 12 school
