Kirk's normal rhetoric.
I can promise you, I'm not out looking for a job."

it's gay, but fortunately, it's not really going to hurt us this year. our class is almost full already.

Kirk came across as a little sensitive. Referencing that "a lot of fans were hoping he'd take a job at a MAC school in 2007."
I really hope he realizes that the people (vocal minority) on the radio, message boards, etc are clueless dbags.

I thought that too. Even his comments on the team they beat with the same record as them, being voted higher in the human poll.

I don't think Kirk would go anywhere else in college football as he realizes that the salary to expectation level at Iowa is considerably better than anywhere else in the country.

When did Ferentz get so whiny? He chose long ago to mold teams that weren't 'sexy' knowing full well that it's a disadvantage when it comes to pollsters.

He played the "aw shucks" role for most of the year and now that the games are over and the Fiesta or Orange Bowl is on the line, Kirk is now doing the smart thing and playing the media game to get a BCS bowl.

There was definitely a time, that if someone asked him about a situation like the Penn St one, I believe he would have answered something like "Penn St. is a very good team, and its just unfortunate that there is only room for one of us. Its a good problem for the Big 10 to have." I dislike hearing any coaches complaining about polls.

...in all fairness to the the critics during the 2005-2007 years...there were obviously some problems.

Check out 1700 the champ website. I believe they're pretty good about getting podcasts up

He was still playing the "aw shucks" role after the game on Saturday. He made a comment about bowl games and said they were all good bowls (cap one, fiesta, and orange) and how he would be happy with any of them.

Given the bowl reps from those three bowls were right outside the door waiting to shake his hand, I can't blame him for making those comments.
However, now is the time to get out in the media and start making your case. I think he's making a smart move here.
