I mean FRUIT. And no, douche4like94, I'm still not talking about your love life. I'm talking about dates, the edible fruit from Northern Africa and Asia. Personally, the only date I'd eaten was years ago (but I was pretty drunk ;)). Kidding, never had a date until a few months ago when Mrs. Monster's grandfather sent us a 10-pound container (I couldn't bring myself to say box there). We tried every which way to use them - baked in cookies, bread, etc. - and still had tons left. Then last week we received another big container of freaking dates. He's a thoughtful guy.

It's something that grows on you. An acquired taste, that's for sure. I'm starting to like them. High in fiber, too, Stinky.

Anyone want some dates?

I'm a fan.

The Deglet Noor cultivar, which is what you'll find from Sun-Maid, Sunkist, etc. is pretty good. So are the similar (but larger) Medjools. But my favorite is the Barhi, which is almost like a piece of candy. They're harder to find, but worth the effort.
