No, just that Steve Alford is having success while Iowa's program is the way it is. Things weren't great while he was here, but they were better.

SA is better suited to a small conference. He was never going to succeed at Iowa.
I don't disagree - things were better in some ways, heck in a lot of ways. But I don't feel depressed. I'm still glad he's gone.

I don't like seeing him succeed, though. I don't care if it's sour grapes. Fuck him. I have been having a hard time deciding if it's harder for me to watch him do well at NM or watching my defunct Sonics in playoff position as the "Thunder".

Alford has won more games this year than Lick has the last two years combined. I was happy to see him go, if for no other reason than to quell the constant bickering amongst the fan base and get a fresh start with someone else. This all would've been fine, had Barta made a competent hire. But it's looking like Lick will be using Year 4 to get back to where he was Year 1 (i.e., about 6 Big Ten wins or so), which is not a good remedy for a bickering fan base.

This place isn't much fun right now. I know fans are frustrated with the basketball program, but the comments and cheap shots on both sides of the debate are out of control, petty, and childish. It's coming to an end as of today.
Here is the deal. Moving forward, here are my expectations for this forum from here on out.
1. Stop the petty cheap shots at the coaches and players. If you want to pretend you are a late night comic, then this forum will not longer be open to you.
If you are concerned or frustrated and want to engage in civil discussions regarding Iowa Basketball, the coaching staff, or the players, then by all means lets have it. I think most fans enjoy a civil debate.
2. If you have come here to continue to beat dead horses, then don't make the post.
3. If you are upset by fans who are "negative", then do not call them out in a flaming. We have had a few of these type posts in the past couple of days and that will not be allowed. Engage people on facts, and personally attacking them doesn't accomplish anything. Fact is, it only makes the situation worse and encourage more flaming. Just because someone doesn't see the world as you do doesn't give you the right to flame them on a message board.
4. Zero profanity. I mean zero. No more photos with profane language in it, no more changing one letter of a profane word in it.
5. Be decent to each other. Stop attack each other with petty, childish, and snide remarks. For gosh sakes folks, this is sports and entertainment. It isn't life or death and that's the way some of you seem to treat it. I'm all for passion among fans and caring about your favorite team. That is the backbone of this site, but to rip each other apart over a basketball game? Seriously folks, let's keep these "games" in the proper perspective.

I understand tying to micromanage fan outrage but our little fanbase different. When you micromanage the normal process of natural selection goes out the window.

Is the difference between the MWC and the B10 so vast, from a basketball coach's perspective, as to render him highly successful in the smaller conference and average in the larger one?
