I am traveling to Carmel for 5 days in a couple weeks. Anyone been? I am pretty unfamiliar with the area. What are some must do things in Carmel or surround area? I plan on driving down to Big Sur and might head over to Pebble Beach. Anyone know of any good trails to hike in the Big Sur area?

Just stay on 1, and take lots of pictures. You'll run into plenty of parks and trails.

If you golf, it's a definite that you're going to want to golf Pac Grove. It's a po-boy's Pebble Beach, and I've golfed both.
17 mile drive is the stretch that runs from Pacific Grove to Carmel. I'd split the time evenly between Monterey/Pac Grove and Carmel. Monterey/PacGrove is best for mornings, particularly watching the sun come up over the bay and then hitting The Tinnery for breakfast. Fisherman's Wharf is great for nighttime stuff, that and Carmel proper with the inns and wineries.
Actually, a great hiking running trail is built in along the bay, and you can indeed take it about 25 miles if you choose to. Absolutely awesome, spectacular, breathtaking scenery the whole way.
It's my favorite spot on Earth, and I've been to a whole bunch of spots.
