He's just the son of a millworker. He wants to create jobs for the middle class and help you.

Man I love a deathspiral.

From the first time this guy appeared on the national political scene, I called him as a phony. I simply cannot understand how anyone could have fallen for this guy's pitch.

Edwards was particularly transparent.

My otherwise very smart sister and her husband were big Edwards supporters. I never understood how they couldn't see how smarmy he is.

In other Edwards news, the house that he supposedly bought for Rielle is not too far from ours. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know if I see the Breck Boy.

Be sure to give him the finger for me.

Why do conservatives have such a boner for John Edwards? He is completely irrelevant. You don't see Democrats sporting boners for Larry Craig...probably for obvious reasons.

Well, I never really got the impression that he was....well....what we now know he is.

I did think he was a phony...but only because politicians who take up populist mantles usually are (particularly when they themselves are quite wealthy). And most people I've known who have been successful chasing ambulances are relatively slimy.

I know somebody whose husband became involved in the Edwards campaign in Iowa in 2004. She, too, became quite enthralled with him. In her case, I think it was less about him than what he was peddling.

She's just a sucker for pulled heartstrings.

Well, for one thing, John Edwards twice ran for president and very nearly became Vice President.

For another, he not only fathered a child....he tried to pin the whole thing on a staffer (and the staffer even agreed to take the rap!).

For another, if you believe the account in "Game Change", Edwards was openly trying to get the #2 slot again on the Democratic ticket...seeking a deal with Obama for him to drop out.

And, for yet another, the whole thing with his wife, her cancer, and both of them taking part in using her cancer as a means of jumpstarting his presidential campaign (with her knowing about the affair at the time) just makes it a pretty salacious story.

Plaintiff Attorney 101-obtain an office door.

I love how people were so impresed that he won the pool drain case for the little girl that had her insides sucked out. Gee that's a really hard case to win.

The recent 20/20 special on the clown family that was in hiding and going to take the fall for him was AWESOME. Totally portrayed Edwards and his wife as lowlifes.

It's not salacious to picture Larry in the bathroom with some hairy and sweaty dude?

Didn't say that. I'm just pointing out why the Edwards story gets more attention than most other political sex scandals.....including ones involving both Democrats and Republicans.

You asked the question and I answered it. What more do you want?

Nah. I understand your point. However, John Edwards has gone the way of Sammy Sosa. Nobody, including his team/fans, can stand him anymore. It's pretty safe to assume that any meaningful political career is over.

You are trying too hard.

The difference would be that Larry Craig shut his mouth and faded into Bolivian. Craig owned up to the fact he loves him some big seaty manmeat.

Edwards was cheating on his cancer riddled wife and was dumb enough to not wrap it and got his mistress knocked up. Then he tried to get someone to fall on the sword for him. Now by all accounts his wife is also a heartless bitch but that doesn't make what he did any better.

Please tell me you see the difference here.

Good point. Bolivia probably doesn't have the media resources to report Larry Craig's indiscretions.

Love it. Brant probably was a big John Edwards fan, before the fall. Hell alot of lefties were 'Fish-on-the-line' for Edwards' pathetic story.
Sleaziest politician of the decade: John 'ain't my kid' Edwards.

He wants evil R's to leave poor D's alone...and he wants to crucify any and all R's that have even the slightest (not saying Craig) hint of an issue.

Can't you do that for him Crazed? Can't we all just forget about the left's issues...and work on crucifying the right? Can't we all just 'get along'?

I don't think that Crazed is playing the victim card. Not sure how you (and I mean solely you) can play victim when the thread is about John Edwards.
