In terms of "personas" I think something like the following would be a more accurate list of choices:
Anti-Iowa Flame Thrower
Indignant Religious Skeptic
Grammar Policeman
Man of Superior Culture and Sophistication

Man of Superior Culture and Sophistication, by far.

I like the "I'm going to try to relate to them as if I were one of them, but when it doesn't work, I'm going back to my man of superior culture and sophistication persona."
That's my favourite one.

I like the one where he made fun of JR for his ghost dog...one of the few times I actually laughed at a NPR post.
Oh...and I like the Loogey persona.

Ole' NPR's been good for some laughs over the years.
No sense in being offending by any of it.
Though if I were Zaphod, that might not be true, considering that NPR trolled him into an ego-driven, rant of name-dropping and braggadocio in a thread about butter, for chrissakes. Some of ole' Zaphod's long-festering insecurities really came to the fore in that thread. Not a proud moment for one of Thomas Keller's must trusted authorities on sourcing.

Love him or hate him, I suspect his threads get read by the largest percentage of readers.

I feel that it's sad that someone spends time making an alter-ego on a message board. Your real life has to have some noticeable issues that are driving it. If he had just one 'persona' he'd have had enough time to live through his kid more and make sure he would have gotten into Stanford.

Same here, though "fan" might go overboard a tidge.

The one in bold above is particularly interesting considering one of my favorite Perham "personas" is that of: Defender of Public Morality and Character.
I especially like his posts condemning and opining on such things as living in sin, drunk driving, tattoos, common etiquette, et al.

short and to the point .
I like Man of Superior Culture, especially once I realized the correlation between Perham culture references and that week's New York Review of Books or Times Sunday Magazine.
