My company asked me if I wanted to participate in this high end Cisco training--a class that supposedly costs 2k for 2.5 days. I accepted the offer. Well, turns out this class isn't in an actual classroom, its via WebEx. I'm sorry, but watching basically a video remotely just doesn't have the same retention as learning it in person.

Not to mention the fact that I have exposure to all types of distractions.

I'm a day and half in and I can't stand it anymore.

I agree that it sucks. I participated in a VMware view class online - was not as good as being there. I did find it funny that we had to use citrix to connect to a virtual view environment instead of going directly to view.

It sucks. I've lost quite a bit of my hearing and IMO WebEx stuff sucks

Saves $$ sure, but not the best learning tool for me

A previous employer tried some really high-end virtual classrooms for training, thinking we could use those getups to cut down on travel-costs.

Yeah, they sucked in a major way. The voice and video lag at times was outrageous.

Whoever sold those for 2K/seat should be ashamed, but not as ashamed as whomever approved them at your company.
