I'm moving to Scottsdale area later in the year. I will be interested in the game day atmosphere at the Sandbar.

Also taking over Tuscon should be fun this fall. I'm going to have to rent for a short time prior to buying a place, are year leases standard down there or can I slip into a 6 month or less apt?

The housing market still looks favorable for buyers, I want a pool instead of the homless guy standing in a snowbank where I live now.

Housing will be dirt cheap. Arizona would be a great place to live if you have a steady job.

Thats what we figured, 200k house in Chicago gets you a studio whereas you can roll a nice house with a pool and all the fixins for the same in AZ.

I've been down for several spring trainings and like the area. My only concern are the DB factor but I'm too old to go out on a regular basis. I hear about lots of San Diego and LA rejects.

But besides that there should be plenty of Iowa rejects like myself.

Tuscon has no idea what sort of Iowa tsunami is coming there way this fall.

Sandbar seemed like a good place when I was there last month. I'm glad I wasn't driving though, because I'd have gotten lost. Just miles upon miles of identical stucco-roofed town homes and strip-malls. Suburban Phoenix was the most dizzying, antiseptic, character-free place I'd ever been.

Weather was nice, though.

Lived on 70th and McDowell about 12 years ago. Loved the area.
