Now with an approved patent, Ron Christensen Sr. sees his products he’s created to increase the life of razor blades really taking off.

The owner of Game Day Iowa started developing the Revolt products in 2003, and said that his two products greatly lengthen the life of razor blades and reduce skin irritation from shaving.

The Revolt Lubricating Liquid is for storing razors and spare blades, preventing the rust and corrosion that occurs from contact with water and oxygen. The razor and liquid are put together in a glass, and the user only needs to add a couple drops each time they shave to maintain the liquid level, Christensen said.

Instead of only getting five shaves per $3 blade, with the Revolt Christensen said he now uses the same razor blade from Jan. 1 of one year to Jan. 1 of the next.

The Revolt Shaving Solution protects the skin while shaving, to prevent razor burn.

“Water’s the problem — it damages the razor blades and it also damages your skin,” Christensen said.

The shaving solution saves water because after shaving, the user just rubs the remaining Revolt into the skin. The product has vitamin E and aloe, and leads to smoother, softer skin without irritation or infection from shaving, he said. The solution has no fragrance or color, he said.

“We feel the average person will probably save $150 a year in razor blades, shaving cream and water,” Christensen said.

Christensen said he sees the shaving solution working well for a variety of customer groups — from soldiers using it overseas so they don’t have to import water to hospitals and senior care facilities.

For people with Alzheimer’s or dementia, who may get irritated by having shaving cream put on them, the Revolt Shaving Solution is clear. It also doesn’t evaporate, so if they need to take a break from shaving, they could do so, he said.

“We feel that’s going to be a fantastic application,” he said.

The product also helps improve the condition of their skin, making it a product that seems appropriate for hospital and care facilities, he said.

“Now you’ll have a product that makes your skin feel better,” Christensen said.

If every person who shaved used Revolt products, it would prevent billions of razorblades, plastic and steel, from going into landfills. It also would save water and reduce the use of shaving cream cans, he said.

The products are for sale at Game Day Iowa and on the company Web site, http://revoltshave.com. Sales representatives are working to distribute the products across the country and Christensen said as the business grows, he looks to create manufacturing and distribution sites in Iowa and on the West Coast, developing hundreds of jobs. Currently, the bottles are made in New Jersey and filled in Pennsylvania.

Christensen said he expects Revolt product sales also to help him grow his other business, Game Day Iowa.

“We feel that the Revolt products will be 1,000 times greater than Game Day in sales, in size,” he said.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that I switch blades every 2 months at most, and I have a thick beard and shave every day.

That line about alzheimer's and dimentia is classic btw

I get the same results by drying the water off with a towel and storing the blade in mineral oil.

This line makes no sense to me. What specifically about having Alzheimer's makes you not want shaving cream on your face, and why would I want to take a break from shaving with an awkward clear cream on my face??

It's just a horribly written article with a lot of sentences making little sense.

I wonder if Ron wrote it himself.

That's ridiculous. I might spend all of $40/year on shaving stuff. If that.

The whole thing is dumb, but that doesn't mean he won't make buckets of $$ off it.

It's the way he's marketing it and the silly quotes that are being ridiculed.

I'm going to soak my towel in Revolt so that it repairs my damaged skin after a shower.

I buy cheap 12 packs of twin blades. $5 a pop. Probably go through maybe three twelve packs a year, at most (~10 days per blade). Throw in about four bottles of Barbasol at $0.97 a pop, and I'm right around $20 a year in shaving supplies.

In other words, it's not an area in which I'm looking to save money.

You're missing the point, verbs. You can actually get into the black and start making money shaving.

What's gameday going to do about that little blue stripe which fades and orders me to buy new blades?

I shave about twice a week and use a new blade about every 2 months. When Shick's new triple blade razor came out I saw a guy putting a sample on my front door and asked if he had any more. He took me over to his van and sold me a box of 256 for $20. This was about 5 years ago and I still have about 6 years worth of blades left. Best $20 I've ever spent

I agree Ron's a good guy. My wife and I always stop by GDI when we're in town and if we need something Hawkeye related. Ron's always been nice to us, he'll talk our ear off, but he's still nice.

He's certainly passionate about his work, almost to a fault however.

I'm willing to take you up on that bet.

He already has more money than all of us combined x2. He's richer than god and could lose money at GDI for the next 30 years and it wouldn't hurt him at all.

He's a good guy too and uses his money from all of his little ventures to put out more Hawkeye stuff. Sales pitch or not, it's the truth.

I have used the Revolt stuff. Was reluctant to at first, but it does work.

Plus, as others have said, Ron is a good guy. I have only met him at his store and on gamedays, but I can't really say a bad word about him. His store is top notch and he takes a lot of pride in what he does. Cant fault him for that.
