Fun thread in the wrestling forum from site B. Lots of support for Lincoln in that thread.

As someone mentioned in that thread; it would be a helluva third period.

I'm not sure Metcalf has had to beat anyone as good as Bono was

That would probably be the most exciting wrestling match in history.

I think a lot of people forget just how good Lincoln Mac was, metcalf while awesome and probably one of Iowa's best ever but Lincoln was and is THE BEST to come through Iowa. He went 1-2-1-1, he just found ways to win and Metcalf hasn't wrestled anyone like Lincoln.

I watched them both live. I saw Lincoln lose to Marianetti. I saw Metcalf lose to Caldwell. Lincoln also has lost more times in college than Metcalf. And many of you are overrating Bono. The only reason he won a championship was that McIlravy took a year off. The year before McIlravy teched him in Ames. I saw him many times in college. He developed more afterwards. He was a stalling machine

It wouldn't surprise me to see Metcalf beat him.

Lincoln only lost what, 3 matches ?....and that was over 4 years...Metcalf has lost 2-3 in less then 3 years so far....not sure I'd call that more as you say since Metcalf will have one less year

Metcalf has only lost to one wrestler . . . twice. The first meeting between them was the infamous pseudo fake pin. Their second meeting Metcalf teched him. The third was last year's final in which he lost 11-6 to him.

Lincoln

Although I think he might have got burned out at the end.

Besides how can you go against a man that has FIVE fucking state titles?

Well, that has happened before. And it's not like he did it in Minnesota or Iowa. It was South Dakota I believe.

Correct. However, I would say many fans don't accept the pin as legitimate. There's one real loss, for sure.

Another thing to consider is number of pins, techs, majors, etc. Metcalf is statistically superior in that regard.

Here's a picture of that pin. Metcalf is laying on top of Caldwell's chest and the refs hand is coming down.http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g77/rlmartin62/MetcalfPin.jpg

oh I'm aware of the pin and it was a very questionable call but it was called and thats that as they say. Metcalf does put more bonus points on the board thats true

well Lincoln has 3 titles and Metcalf hasyet to end his career.

I guess I'm biased for Lincoln having watched him way more. He also used to ride a sweet motorcycle with a blonde on the back in mid 90s. So there.

The one Hawkeye sport with a national championship in your lifetime, and you don't know those names?

Have you ever picked up an Iowa newspaper?
