I posted about The Dead Hand a few weeks ago; I wasn't sure if PJ had read enough reviews to chime in on it yet. Also, the biography of Cornelius Vanderbilt sounds like it might be worth a read.
Color me disappointed that the National Enquirer was shut out for their coverage of the John Edwards love child.

I thought the same thing, and I'm not half the man NLP is.

It was mostly said tongue in cheek. And I knew that you would be the first to take exception to that comment.

If I remember the story right (pretty sure I do) then that guy is from my hometown and his name has never not been attached to drugs. He's a grade A loser that was in the right place in the right time. It's very cool the lady was saved, but I'd be careful of labeling him a 'real man'.

the guy shied away from the limelight and admitted he had made a lot of mistakes in the past.

No mention of the winner for best fiction? Paul Harding, who's a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop. (Former rock drummer, too)

Good catch, howler. 17th IWW grad to win a Pulitzer and 2nd in 3 years (not to mention all the faculty members such as Marilynne Robinson).
