for my internet. the installed it yesterday. it was a little more of a hassle than was explained to me over the phone, but the slowest speed i experienced yesterday was three times as fast as qwest DSL. I now have to call qwest to cancel my DSL and switch my directv to a stand-alond setup.

i have 30 days to cancel mediacom at no cost...is there any reason I should? the cost is only slightly higher.

I went from mediacom to qwest ... and then back to mediacom. As much as it pained me, qwest service was just too flaky.

how long did you stay with qwest?

What problems are people having with Qwest. Other than a minor issue with netflix, it's been very good - easily as good as our "cable" internet in Cedar Falls.

In almost 3 years I think it's gone down 4 times for a total of 10 minutes.

I've had Qwest for 2.5 years since we moved into our house. Much better than Mediacom. We had multiple service interruptions seemingly every month with Mediacom.

I signed up to go back to Mediacom phone and internet last night. Installation set for next Tuesday. I'll save about $65/month over what I had before which was Mediacom cable and Qwest phone and internet. I've had all three packaged w/ Mediacom before so hopefully installation is pretty quick and easy.

I hate Mediacom with a passion, but they do have the best internet service I've experienced by far. It's been down maybe twice in 4 years (that I've noticed, and I'm addicted to internet porn).

my service hasnt really gone out with qwest, but the speed sucks. it isnt fast enough for netflix at times, and my roommate says it is terrible for xbox live.

my biggest issue with qwest is my billing. my amount is different every month and I have no idea why. I do autopay for nearly every other bill in my life but there is no way i am giving qwest access to my checking account. plus, ever since I cancelled my landline, I have been getting a past due notice every monthly for $0.00. I have paid late before, but i get the notice every month regardless of when i paid the bill.

also, when i signed up, they guaranteed me a "price for life" of $26 if i got a two-year contract. well last year my bill went up to $50 and when i called to look into it, they could only lower it back to $32. WTF? then I called today to cancel and they said they could give me a price of $25/month. i told them that had they bothered to do that a few months back, I may have not even shoooed around, but I am not going to pay $32 for 1.5mbps when I can get 12mbps for $40.

Mediacom issues are normally localized to a neighborhood due to line quality or overcrowding issues. I have Mediacom and have almost no problems other than the one major outage several months ago that everyone got. In a good neighborhood Mediacom is untouchable unless you happen to be in one of the fast Qwest areas(10+mbps). Claiming that Mediacom universally sucks because of one place you lived is simply a nonstarter. If you have 1.5 DSL I hope you enjoy having home internet that is slower than my iPhone's mobile internet.

qwest is terrible. they are still trying to charge me for a service that was never active and trying to turn it over to collections. mediacom internet is badass. it's fast and never goes down. i also have mediacom cable, which is average, but i have a tivo and am not home enough to pay for anything more than that. i pay $63 a month for cable and internet together.
