Your bit of trivia for the day. She is his only living child.

NBC Chicago:

On the other side of the world, Josef Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union who formed the Eastern bloc, was directly responsible for hundreds of thousands of executions and arguably to blame for millions who died of starvation.

Closer to home, a related, well-kept secret was in Madison, Wisconsin, about 150 miles northwest of Chicago.

A new documentary has revealed that Stalin's only daughter, Svetlana Alliluyeva, has been living in and around the Madison area for the past 20 years, reports the AP.

Filmed in 2007, "Svetlana About Svetlana" is an independent film by first-time director Lana Parshina, who diligently and stubbornly tracked down Alliluyeva.

Well where else would you expect her to live besides Madison? Berkley maybe?

She wanted to live someplace just like where she grew up. Madison is cold, has lots of trees, and run by Marxists.

If you were dropped in either Russia or Madison the only way to tell the difference is that Russians are less liberal.

Does Moscow have a killer farmer's market?

She lives in Spring Green, Wisconsin (or at least she did)....it has been well-known around the area. Stalin supposedly killed two of her husbands (or boyfriends).

Wow.

I have quite a bit of family in that area....I'm surprised that it is a secret.

Long ago, she married Frank Lloyd Wright's protege, William Wesley Peters -- a native of my fair town.

The marriage didn't last long. But Svetlana was like an adopted daughter to the Wrights.

It was lost in translation, so the farmers were killed...

Still, this is a thing to have carried around. Her father let her brother die in a German POW camp because he was disgusted that he allowed himself to be captured. Makes the Hogan's or Ozzie's clan appear mainstream.

EVERYTHING in Russia is farmers / flee market style. There are very few real 'stores'....just some shops and a lot of 'market' type places.

Stalin was a real POS...made Hitler look like a piker. Everyone needs to watch "Enemy at the Gates" about WWII Russian sniper in 'Stalingrad'. Real eye opener.

I know that this is going to get me ripped...BUT...the best thing would have been if Hitler would have just went East and left France and Brittan alone. The Russians and all of their 'Soviet States' would have been much better off under the Nazi's than under Stalin and the Soviets. Of course Hitler would have eventually tried to take over the world...and would have still had to have been stopped...but having Stalin and all the heads of the USSR shoot first would have been a blessing for all of us...especially those in the Soviet Union.
