Any rumors out there about potential bands?
Who would I like to see, or who would I like to see that I would realistically expect 80/35 to be able to get?

The latter.

I asked Amadeo last summer who was at the top of his list. He said w/o hesitation Beck and the Beastie Boys. Didn't one of the Beastie Boys get cancer?

I might be back in IA around this timeframe. I'm looking forward to seeing the line-up and whether to try and fit it into the schedule.

I'd love for them to get the Flaming Lips back. Is this thing still on the fourth of July?

Early bird are sold-out... up to $40 now (still a great value), before they hit $60 (normal price).
We all missed this on Wednesday...

It's doubtful, but I'd love MGMT.

Slightly true- It's perfect chill music for me to fall asleep to. Which makes me enjoy it. I bet they'll come out with a new album soon with the upbeat music people want.
After looking at the music board here I noticed Modest Mouse has a few days open and will be in KC on July 7th, that'd be kick-ass if they're coming.

Why are they dicking around and only announcing part of the lineup at a time. It's stupid.

B.F. Burt hasn't returned their call yet.

They likely don't have the whole lineup locked down yet.

It's been the trend lately to slow-roll the lineup. Monolith, Mammoth, Lollapalooza all have done some variation of this... but maybe not this slow.
As Newsy said, it does give them time to work on the schedule for a few more weeks. (Hopefully for the positive).
so much for the timing of this with the announcement of SSUP's tour dates....

RT @8035: The Walkmen, Particle, Avi Buffalo, Christopher the Conquered, & The Workshy added to 80/35 lineup. http://ow.ly/1DaOf
the walkmen - very nice! i'll probably have to miss day 1, but i've already seen spoon in a festival setting so i'm not too upset about it.

Avi Buffalo is a Long Beach band that has been getting a lot of good press lately. I think SXSW was good to/for them.

I know they were an early rumor (maybe partially based on facts), but they are a band I'd like to see live.
For the price/location, this really isn't a bad lineup (so far).

sweet.
good call, lime.
that's a pretty solid lineup. i love that william elliott whitmore is playing, and avi buffalo just got pretty high marks from pitchfork (http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14175-avi-buffalo/). wish i could make it to the first day, but night #2 will have to suffice (walkmen!).
