Not too bad.

Does it annoy anybody else when folks on all the other Iowa sites say "good get" or "great get?"

They might get another 2 or 3 players in the next few weeks. Iowa might be half full by June.

The Kazcessdlfkjsdifi push from Iowa City to Lincoln is starting to pay great dividends. I hope it also helps the on-field performance of the DL.

Stupid people are everywhere. Just look at our own draft thread. People just knowing that a pick was bad. People thinking every spot RR wasn't drafted it was a mistake. And in the next day or two people will be really really mad that their squad passed on MARVIN MCNUTT!!!! It is hilarious reading and/or listening to those type of people.

What fun would the draft be if everyone just took a completely rational "wait and see" approach?

I was kind of hoping the Bears would draft someone not on anyone's radar just for the pleasure of listening to the aftermath on sports radio. So far, Bears fans are divided on McClellan. He's either the next Urlacher or Dan Bazuin.

Iowa won't get it's 7th recruit until sometime in August and Michigan will have 95% of their class wrapped up by that time.

Ohio State already has 4 players. They have the number 7, 28, 41 and 130 rated players.

Unless Hoke and Meyer totally shit the bed in the coaching department, we are going to have to get used to seeing Michigan and Ohio State play in consecutive weeks for the Big Ten Championship starting in 2013. They are just racking up the talent. Even Nebraska won't even come close to matching them in the recruiting department.

My only hope is like we have discussed before is that Wisconsin and Michigan State just get fucking crushed in the next few years by the weight of that recruiting and lack of base in the Chicago area that a team like Iowa has.

not to run to dougie's defense but OSU and Mich don't give a rip about a single kid that Iowa has received commitment from.

Just tweaking Doug because Iowa got it's seventh commit today. Has nothing to do with OSU or Mich.

That would seem to be Iowa giving a rip about a Buckeye recruit.

I was gonna ask about Doering, but I just don't remember many Buckeye lineman with skinny-legged, middle-aged bodies.

They offered Anthony Bowman late in the game, IIRC.

The de-commits have begun. It is one week into May and you already have a guy who committed to a major program early back out. It will be horrendous this year. You can't have this many high profile players commit this early and not have second thoughts just based on the fact that they no longer are getting the attention that comes along with recruiting. The draw and ego are too much to pass up and they will get even more attention by putting themselves back out there.

My guess is that Michigan has at least 5 players who de-commit this year.

I ultimately think that an early signing period will be in place by August of next year.

The nolookpass hatred of Ferentz and Iowa City must be strong in the Des Moines area.

I think Iowa is going to strike out on all 3 kids in Des Moines this year after losing Darboh last year.

When you go 7-5 every year it is going to be hard to compete with SEC teams in recruiting.

It is odd that in a small state like Iowa with a team that has been very good over the last decade, top recruits leave at an alarming rate.

Here are the players Iowa has missed out on:

Adrian Arrington - 4* WR from Cedar Rapids that went to Michigan
Dan Hoch - 4* OT from Harlan that went to Missouri and was 1st Team All-Big XII
David Barrent - 4* OT from West Des Moines that went to Michigan State
A.J. Derby - 4* picks Iowa and then is gone in less than 2 years
Matt Hoch - 3* OT from Harlan that joined his brother at Missouri
Christian French - 4* TE from Cedar Rapids that went to Oregon
James Ebert - 4* DE that literally lives across the street from Kinnick and Iowa doesn't offer and he goes to Oregon
Amara Darboh - 4* WR from West Des Moines that goes to Michigan
Jake Campos - 4* OT from West Des Moines that goes to Missouri
John Wisnieski - 3* TE from West Des Moines that appears to have little interest in Iowa
Sam Rairdon - 3* DE from West Des Moines that appears to have little interest in Iowa

That is a lot of players to lose out on when your state doesn't produce much to begin with.

Except Iowa doesn't go 7-5 every year and they do well with kids just as highly rated from 5 states away who have SEC offers, which is the point.

Dowling coach is tight with an assistant at Michigan. I doubt that helps Iowa's case.

Reese Morgan is by all accounts a tremendous human being, but hes a 60 year old guy recruiting Iowa--doubt theres much sizzle there.

most young kids want to spread there wings and see a little of the world. do not know why football players should be expected to be any different.

Adrian arrington - 4* wr from cedar rapids that went to michigan
dan hoch - 4* ot from harlan that went to missouri and was 1st team all-big xii
david barrent - 4* ot from west des moines that went to michigan state
a.j. Derby - 4* picks iowa and then is gone in less than 2 years
matt hoch - 3* ot from harlan that joined his brother at missouri
christian french - 4* te from cedar rapids that went to oregon
james ebert - 4* de that literally lives across the street from kinnick and iowa doesn't offer and he goes to oregon
amara darboh - 4* wr from west des moines that goes to michigan
jake campos - 4* ot from west des moines that goes to missouri
john wisnieski - 3* te from west des moines that appears to have little interest in iowa
sam rairdon - 3* de from west des moines that appears to have little interest in iowa

that is a lot of players to lose out on when your state doesn't produce much to begin with.
proof!!~11~

When I think of spreading my wings and seeing the world, the first places that come to mind aren't Brazil or Europe, it is the exotic shores of Ann Arbor, Michigan or Springfield, Missouri.

I would be in favor of DM Iowa boosters overhauling the coaches at Valley and Dowling with guys who will steer kids to Iowa much like occurs in virtually every other state's perennial powers.

Did Missouri State snag one from us, or was it Everest College again?

Michigan I can understand, but wtf is there in Columbia?

It balances out as we get a few from St Louis as well.
