I do actually think we will win a random game, but I can't get myself to commit to what that game might actually be. Maybe we'll shock Purdue at home. I wouldn't bet on it, though.

I predict, sort of like every single year before, that Kirk will pull off some victory that he shouldn't (either against Michigan State, Michigan or Nebraska), will be hugging the staff all around while tearing up and then choking up in the post game interview.

almost assuredly Nebraska to end the year on a slight upswing and ease a little pressure against an artificial rival.

Things are fine. Iowa hasn't lost by more than 3 all season. They will start 1-0 next week and keep it rolling from there. Beating Purdue in the title game in Indy will be a tough task though.

I'm gonna be pissed off when that moment comes this year and every Iowa fan should be as well.

People talk about Ferentz being Mr level-headed and shit but that isn't true anymore. He's bored with the "inferior" opponents which is resulting in consistently poor efforts (for one--Arkansas St 24-21 in 09?!?) and crippling losses for the program and then he turns the tear ducts on way too regularly for the "big" wins which most of the time are only "big" these days because they shit the bed against somebody else they should have beat.

The first time any of us saw any emotion from Ferentz win or lose was the win over PSU in 04 after his Dad died, now the tears come out and he gets peevish about "the critics" postgame when he wins a this week against Minny type of game. I'm sick of it.

I've changed my mind on the Minnesota game. I actually think the Hawks will beat the Gophers this Saturday. That, along with a win over Penn State, will give them 2 conference wins this year.

Kirk will manage a 6-6 season, I'm sure of it but I can't say there are 4 games that are winnable for this team. I hope we only win 2 Big ten games to get us to the magical 4 win season to maybe light a bit of a fire under Kirk's ass.

i wouldnt call nebraska an artificial rival. now, we dont need a fucking heroes game, but even the nebraska fans ive talked with seem to be excited about the rivalry which surprised me given their substantially more impressive football history.

They'll beat Penn State, Indiana, and one other team (possibly even Minnesota). Bowl eligibility will be on the line in the Nebraska game. HaLo News will have a throbbing boner for the prospect of an Iowa appearance in Arlington or Detroit this bowl season. The Hawks will grab a lead, and blow it predictably and spectacularly. Everyone will leave Kinnick quietly, anxious to get home to stuff their faces with Thanksgiving leftovers and shop on amazon for some bullshit Christmas toys, while an obnoxiously loud Kinnick scoreboard plays a farewell video to JVB & Co. Mercifully, we'll be given a 9 month reprieve from Iowa football.

Nebraska is not a rivalry game. Iowa likes to think it is, but when you've only played 7 times (and won once) in the last 60 years, it's not.

It is actually. I just cannot predict Iowa games at all. The funny thing is, I'm actually pretty good at doing predictions for the rest of the college football landscape (won the HaLo college football pick'em contest last year and in the top 10 again this year), but Iowa confuses me. You can even go back to my posts here in 2010 and 2011 and it was damn near just as bad.
