It is so stupid. Gruden's shtick is all cute on TV, but the guy is a major prick that hasn't coached in college since 1991. I think he will wear extremely thin on the College level.

He should take the Eagles job and be done with it.

Bullshit. $11 million a year just for the staff?
that would be 15% more than the highest-paid coach (Mack Brown) and 25% more than the highest-paid staff (Texas).

I agree it's a crap ton of money. But Arkansas has the money, has the donors, and has the backing of the community.

it probably won't happen, but would be interesting if it did.

Might be the best he can get right now given Florida State's reputation. Think the ACC is hurting that program.

Kentucky is possibly the worst head coach job in the B10, Pac12, B12, or SEC.

No way, not even close. I think they went to a string of Bowls recently under Rich Brooks.

kentucky has surpassed 8 wins in a season twice in 50 years and hasn't in almost 30 years. In the SEC, they will be lucky to ever be over .500.

Indiana is just as bad
Wash St has won 10 games several times in the past 20 years
Kansas has even had a chance at the NC game in the past 5 years.
Colorado, based on the current situation does suck.

Worse BCS coaching jobs than Kentucky (In my opinion):

Wake Forest
Duke
Kansas
Iowa State
Temple
Indiana

Nope. I hate to say it but I just don't see it. More stable than they were a couple years ago, decent enthusiasm and a fan base that (currently) is thrilled with 6-6.

If he does well at Kentucky, he would move himself to a position to replace Ferentz. The timing could be pretty could if he succeeds.

Agreed. Iowa State has also dropped some significant dough on their facilities on the last 5 years. Colorado doesn't even have an indoor practice facility, I'd substitute them for ISU.

I love how everyone's friends/relatives "down in _______ have heard that ________ has offered _______ the job for $___,____,____".

It's 2012. If anything has any substance, we'll all hear about it by the same time someone's random cousin who lives in that given state relays the message.

Of course....there are never any message board chats that are proven to be true long before the media confirms it.

Not surprising...
Quote:
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- LSU athletic director Joe Alleva says football coach Les Miles is getting a raise and an extension through 2019.

Alleva confirmed the length of the deal after he and Miles's agent, George Bass reached an agreement on Wednesday afternoon.

Alleva says financial details of the contract are still in the negotiation process and will be announced at a later date.

Miles' previous contract paid about $3.75 million annually through 2017. He has not received a raise since 2008, though he has since received an extension and raises for assistants.

I agree, dougie. I could never understand the outcry over Hope. Guy seems like a pretty decent coach who probably just needed some better recruiters on staff to do well.

Nebraska is paying for Southern Mississippi's buyout, essentially, as the Golden Eagles are selling the home-game to Nebraska:

Quote:
What's the market price for an easy home win in college football? The Southern Miss Golden Eagles have made a deal to move next season's opener—a long-anticipated matchup against Nebraska in Hattiesburg—to Nebraska instead. In a letter between the schools' athletic directors dated last week, which was viewed by Deadspin, Southern Miss agreed to sell home-field advantage to the Cornhuskers for $2,125,000, which is almost exactly the amount Southern Miss owes to its newly fired football coach.

The contract, sent from Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne to Southern Miss AD Jeff Hammond, serves as an amendment to a three-year deal signed in 2008. It was officially signed by USM's president this morning. Here's how it reads:

The location for the game shall be changed from M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, MS to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE.

The visiting team (the University of Southern Mississippi) shall be paid a flat dollar guarantee of $2,125,000,00.

On Tuesday, USM announced the firing of coach Ellis Johnson. For a debt-ridden athletics department, the cost of buying out the remaining three years of his contract is steep: $2.1 million. Funny how things work out.
