Confirmed on 19 being WR recruit Vandeburg.

Guy on far right apparently is a juco preferred walkon kickoff specialist.

Who's #28? He seems to be the only one put together.

I wondered that too. I think it's LeShun Daniels, which would be a bad sign for BC.

#8 Willies in the front...looks impressive

Why would he come here?

Edit: Nevermind, only other offer was Ohio.

Ohio had playmakers at WR this year, unlike Iowa. They would have beat the fuck out of Iowa had they played.

Just sayin.

Added another kicker today, boyz!

Walk-on at least. We traded Mossbrucker for a kid we don't have to give a scholarship to, so that's an upgrade to the team right there.

No, I'm fine with adding a hundred walk-ons.

What I fear is that our schollie kickers will suck and the walk-ons will end up actually kicking in games.

Everyone gets scholarships!!! Come one, come all.

They beat PSU handily and PSU owned Iowa.

It wouldn't have been pretty.

now you're just arguing to argue (shocking with you, I know)

the point remains: they had playmakers at WR, many more than Iowa

I think I would trust their judgment.

We're probably back at the point where we are going to have to rely to a considerable degree on finding steals among guys who have mostly or only MAC offers. There's not much about the program to excite a heralded stud at this point.

iowa isnt a big enough name where kids just know off the top of their head that we sucked this year.

in fact, the prospect of early playing time and the NFL track record of our program is probably more attractive as long as we get to a bowl game regularly.

Ok, I've seen parts of three Ohio games this year and nothing really stuck out besides their running back. He was pretty good.

This is symptomatic of the current state of the program, and directionally speaking, its seems Iowa football is heading toward some very rocky shoals. They very well could be playing diamond in the rough lottery again, and I don't like their odds of winning it twice, particularly given the current absence of perceptible flame in the staff's belly.

The rising of this phoenix almost certainly isn't going to be led by 'ol gum muncher.

Not the loss of this one recruit (I know basically nothing about him, other than that he was viewed as one of our relatively few "really good" ones), but rather what it says about the current attractiveness of Iowa football generally.

thats what i meant. as much as it would suck to lose him, safety is one position where we could absorb the loss.

I think Gus is talking long term.

With Iowa's ineptitude on the field, and lack of "give a shit" at times. They will continue to lose top recruits like this at the last minute when the big dogs come sweeping in.

"Hey Johnny, have you ever seen Coach Ferentz manage the end of a game? Go ahead and sign right here son"

Iowa isn't in a position to absorb any losses at this point. What have we seen at the safety positions leads anyone to believe that Iowa is o.k. Lowdermilk, Tanner Miller, and Nico Law didn't set it on fire when they played. Miller was awful for a second year starter.

Delano Hill would have to be the Honey Badger to beat out one of those three.

Hill is likely gone, unless he realizes he has a better chance at playing time at Iowa.

Kirk would have sat the Honey Badger for Tanner Miller had he transferred here.

Is this any different now than at any other time in Iowa history?

I don't know, I just assume the recruit would almost always switch if Michigan or OSU came calling.

Iowa wouldn't have been "attractive" enough to beat out Michigan for a highly rated kid from Michigan any time after its days of being the #1 program in the nation ('56-'60).
