What is his ethnicity? Indonesian or Polynesian? I'd just assumed he'd look like any other Iowa kid named Scheel.

When I've been next to him I would say he's probably 6'2". His height should not be an issue. Based on a conversation I had today I am really pumped about the Scheel commit. It sounds like he is being told that he will get a legit shot to be the QB early. This would be a great thing, IMO. Again, I am very biased, but I think this kid could be special.

OK. I was wrong to be a little surprised Scheel did not look like I imagined. It is indicative of a character flaw I'm unlikely to ever fully address.

Still have the big #85, but can't wear it in public. It's hot- bought it black market from the team manager. The kid had a good racket going.

Hank Hill: So are you Chinese or Japanese?
Minh Souphanousinphone: No, we are Laotian. Bill Dauterive: The ocean? What ocean? Kahn Souphanousinphone: From Laos, stupid! It's a landlocked country in South East Asia between Vietnam and Thailand, population approximately 4.7 million! Hank ponders this for a few seconds. Hank Hill: So are you Chinese or Japanese? |

Of course they will have no fucking problem grabbing yet another Krieger-Cobbel-Soybean with a trademark signing day offer to a guy with some FCS offers. I'm sure they have their reasons for all of this, but hard to take them seriously when year after year they give away 2-3 scholarships to absolute unknowns the last day of recruiting.

Or it could end up similar to Clayborn and McNutt where Iowa cooled on them and it looked like they were out of the running only to get back in contact with them later.

Sure, but why let it get to that point if a talented, athletic kid is ready to tell you yes right now?

Exactly. You offer the kid, he has multiple other BCS offers, you are recruiting him as recently as a week ago, then he calls you to tell you that he will commit on Junior Day and they tell him "meh, I just don't think we can let you do that and have to see you this summer again". Stupid.
It isn't like a situation with Basketball where that is a very essential part of the process to offer people but not actually let them commit because you literally have 1 or even 0 scholarships some years. You are talking about taking 20+ guys every single year and every single year you end up offering some really shitty guys very late if not the last day just to fill out numbers. Take a talented kid who likes your program who you already offered. At the very least it looks good to others and can give you some further momentum in recruiting.

Our system does not fit quarterbacks who can run and throw. It only fits quarterbacks who can neither run nor throw.

I will be shocked if Iowa State ends up holding on to him. Every team in the country is going to be coming at him hard. Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon, USC, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. Everyone.

He should go ask Dorial Green-Beckham how sticking to his worst in the conference home state school is working out for him at Missouri.

He will be a 5* if he sticks where he is at. Rivals only gives out 10-15 to start and then builds up to around 30 by the end of the year.
