I picked up. It wasn't really Gary, or at least live Gary, and I doubt it is at 730 tomorrow either.

then i will consider than admission of failure on behalf of KF and assume that Anthony Gair is our starting FS.

Someone needs to add the video of Tanner doing the ole trick and then going for a ride on the back of the ball carrier.

So does the 1st Team All-American/Thorpe award winner/1st round draft pick in this video. I am not defending Tanner Miller here...but..it happens.

There have been times when the big dogs have had their problems, especially Notre Dame, or border rivals have been in disarray. Not much of that happening. ND, OSU and Michigan may have their best coaches ever. Wisconsin is on a roll, Minnesota is moving up, Bo has Nebraska at leadst stabilized, Mizzou has been good and now sells the SEC, NW is doing well. And now Indiana is making noise. And Chryst is at Pitt instead of Wanny.

Out East, Rutgers is no longer a minor leaguer, Penn State's coach is no longer senile and 80s recruiting rival Syracuse is coming back. Bernie Wyatt left 23 years ago.

ISU is a near peer in-state and probably stronger in Polk and Dallas County. The Old Man is back at KSU.

Today Clayborn goes to Mizzou and Ballard to KSU and Binns stays with the Gophers.

Then the only thing under Ferentz' control is having a great recruiter on staff. Obviously easier said than done. I'm not sure Wyatt would even have near the same success out east these days. Probably not.

Yep. Not so much QBs and WRs.

And, defensively, it's probably least appealing to back 7 guys, at least in theory.

The inability to identify, court and sign a single DE in this class is a real head scratcher - it's a position that's absolutely critical to the scheme and relatively speaking offers a decent opportunity to showcase talent for the next level. Perhaps its a combination of generally sucky and lackluster team play of late combined with uninspired/uninspiring guys recruiting the position.

Poor UNI has lost out on 4-5 recruits this year who are choosing to walk-on at Iowa.

When I go for short sentences or ask a ?, it comes out cid. The alternative is to go with long sentences and come out like crazed.

One could simply say that it's all because KF is a dumb fuck, I suppose.

You guys wanted a DE in this class?? Well here you go, boyz. The ol' rascal Ferentz went and stole away a TOTAL STUD (loog voice) from Drake. Got him to walk-on too.

Rose Bowl within 2 years. Did I mention he is a ginger?

I think they'll lose another one tomorrow with Hadachek. I'm not as confident as I once was that he will go to Iowa, but I'm pretty sure he won't go to UNI.

After we get rejected by these 3 decent recruits that Iowa is still in on, 3 of these preferred walk-ons likely get offered schollies. That will be fun, won't it?

I don't think that will happen and they would be RETARDS if they did that as they already committed for free.

What I think would happen is they would give the extra ones to some of the Senior level players so they are only locked in for a year.

Anyone want to give odds on the 3 we're waiting for? Not that they'll see the field in the next 3 years.

Also, if Ginger Law Student ever plays a down for Iowa, I will eat my shoe.

Is it just me, or are we getting a lot of walk-ons this year? I don't have a problem with it since it's low risk and potentially--but unlikely--high reward, it just seems like we have more than usual.

(Doug, et al., yes we all know it's because Ferentz sucks and the program sucks so walk-ons think they have a chance to crack the 2-deeps and it brings them out in droves this year.)

I think we just hear about them more prominently and earlier as there are now three different recruiting sites competing for coverage.

You have more than usual and I think it is a bad thing. I don't care if they are free or not, we have a coach who often times defers playing time and loyalty to these types, and having 7-8 "highly rated" walk-ons this year is shitty for scholarship decisions moving forward.

For example, there is no reason that Travis Perry should have a scholarship at Iowa, but he stuck around long enough at a position with a lack of depth and now he will likely take up a scholarship for the next 4 years.

This is all at the same time they tell a 2014 guy who wanted to commit in January to piss off. Who cares that he had multiple offers from schools like Nebraska and Minnesota, is a high level athlete and wanted to be a Hawkeye, we don't need players like that. Nope, we have to make sure guys like Travis Perry get a scholarship instead.

This is a solid point. Not to mention Twitter.

I know who they are. Was wondering if anyone had thoughts on the likelihood of their commitment to Iowa.
Veii - 0%

I ventured over to TOS to see what they have to say about this year's class, a decision I now deeply regret. The more I read the more I understood why Ferentz feels so damn cozy despite his failures both in the w/l column and on the recruiting trail.

Everything that is routinely made fun of here - Doylized, references to Clark/Sanders, 'give me a 2-star that wants to be a Hawk...', etc. are on full display with out a hint of irony. One dude, Maxstabs or something like that, actually pointed to Tanner Miller as a reason why we should be excited about guys like Jewel. It was nice to see at least one poster call him out on it.

Thank god I was perma-banned.

I have succumbed to that temptation too. There's some guy named kilroy who's a real dumb fuck.
