Thanks, I needed a good laugh before bed.

PS. I still blame Davis for 90% of the terrible offense.

With signing day happening, i assume we'll see the word 'combine' in athletic department press releases soon. As in "Two-star Hawkeye recruit Tommy Soybean's hobbies include driving combines during harvest season."

"Iowa wide receivers look to combine for 45 receiving yards next season"

I want him to be successful enough to not be shy about talking about what actually happened last season.

''So, James, you're now a successful quarterback, can you explain your lack of being drafted?''

''Well, sure. I don't blame other teams for not drafting a quarterback that had less passing yards than some punters, but when your offensive scheme was coordinated by someone like GDGD, you'll have that.''

Part of this is that they need bodies to throw to the WRs/TEs since most of the top guys do not throw at the combine.

That said, this news would not have been surprising a year ago. Vandy has decent size and a great arm.........then Greg Davis got a hold of him.

Do they run a lot of 3 yard outs during these drills?

The further from the season, I am more convinced that it was GDGD and that horrific offense more than Vandy.

That said, Vandy was pretty poor last year.

At very best, Davis lied when he declared that we was going to adjust his offense to the talent he had. He's proven incapable of that, and it seems unlikely (though possible with KF) that he'll have enough time to actually run the offense with the "right kind" of talent for it. Our QBs still aren't mobile improvisers, and our WRs still aren't gamebreakers, and very little of the foregoing appears to be on the near term horizon. How Kirk can't see, or doesn't care about, this continuing train wreck is beyond me. He's screwing up, or at least inserting some decent sized speed bumps into, his son's career in the process.

The shitty thing is that he would never do that.

We need some DJK type, but someone with actual credibility to really throw the whole system under the bus hard.

The worst coaching fit at Iowa (at least in terms of coaching positions that matter) since Todd Lickliter. The near immediacy with which their atrociousness became apparent is uncannily similar, really.

Let's not forget, this is one of the worst QB drafts in quite a while.

Yep. Not sure Ferentz's thought process on Davis as OC. An offense that stretches the field seems and relies on play action seems more suited to a running game focused offense.

He needed some old balls to keep the seat warm until he can justify elevating Brian. Shit, I would rather he just install Brian immediately rather than expose Brian to this disaster. I can only hope he will scrap it completely when he takes the reins.

Yeah. 2 or 3 more years of impotent offense and there won't be a single Ferentz in the US that would be considered for the HC of the U of I.
