I'll certainly admit it was all JVB if it turns out to be the case and the offense is successful/productive this season, I just think there are reasons (expressed ad nauseum) to be dubious - dubious enough to have pulled the plug and hit reset.

Reese leaving isn't a great sign, IMO (he doesn't likely hang them up if he thinks the program is on the cusp of very good), but at least another shot for the staff to get younger.

Those were probably our three best recuriters (not that that's saying a ton) so that part is kind of a bummer. Morgan is the only surprising one. Erb's been rumored to be on the way out for months, and I've heard Wilson was upset about not getting the DC job. Morgan and Kirk seemed really tight, but maybe he didn't want to coach DL.

pretty sure Erb was in charge of the return portion of special teams that so often sucked (especially with punts). he also coached WRs when every WR ever left and RBs the last few years (when every RB ever left) and was somehow immune to criticism on that front.

There's an article out about a recruit that said Morgan called him last week with a scholarship offer. I doubt Morgan is going anywhere.

Was Brian brought in before that piece of shit Greg Davis? I'm sort of hoping that Brian is the key ingredient behind this house cleaning. I hate Greg Davis but at least it seems like Kirk is cognisant of the issues/concerns surrounding the program. Maybe this is a good sign? I'll withhold my complete judgment by who he brings on board to replace these guys but this is at least giving me a little hope. I can only hope we see one more season of Greg Davis and then Brian takes the reigns.

If Greg Davis retreads are hired to replace Campbell and Erb, I think it's safe to assume Davis was behind the changes on that side of the ball.

Now the question is how incredibly long can Ferentz drag his feet on hiring 3-4 coaches. Will they even be hired by Spring Ball? That is about a month away. Given that the WR coach has been out of here for at least 2 months with no replacement, I am not confident.

I think what Kirk is doing is trying to merge the Iowa stretch play running game with Davis' shitty passing system and develop some new wave offense that Brian can take credit for.

other than a white walkon who should be playing DIII, Kirk loves him some old fired assistants more than anything.

What if they are also acquaintances of GDGD? That would go beyond sucking to the point of non-renewal.

someone like jim reid is fine. you cant hire all young guys with limited contacts and recruiting experience. many UVA fans seem to think that he was a fall guy anyways.

Right, but we're likely getting Jim Reid AND Bobby Kennedy. If Erb's replacement is some other guy "who coached with Greg Davis before," or even some other guy in his 40s or older who was fired from his last job, that will be severely disappointing, IMO.
