The sweat will start pouring from Iowa State when Lazzard starts attending some team camps or takes an unoffical visit or two.

He should go ask Dorial Green-Beckham how sticking to his worst in the conference home state school is working out for him at Missouri.
You mean like smoking dope in the stadium parking lot? That has worked out well for him.

2014 LB from Joliet Clifton Garret. There's a letter from Iowa in there. And fifty four from Ole Miss. In one day.

Doering was in that same neighborhood. And Blake Larsen was right before recuriting coverage really exploded and became what it is now but he would have been right up there given that a bunch of people had him as the best lineman in the country.

My guess is it took 54 envelopes to fit all the cash they are sending these recruits.

I envision Ole Miss having 20 people on staff in the AD just writing letters. Another 20-30 in a call center environment sending texts and messages.

That Ole Miss pic disgusts me a little bit. Not because it is obviously that Iowa has no shot at the kid, but because it embodies so much of what is wrong with recruiting.

Our envelopes are as outdated and vanilla as our coaching staff.

this makes me hate college football and realize that i am completely fine with running a normal, sane program and essentially lucking in to a BCS game occasionally.

Doerring's family is close with Tom Lemming which may explain his being overrated.

Lemming doesn't have anything to do with Rivals, does he? Thta's what I was going off of. I think Doering's biggest issue is that he could never stay healthy. His development kinda got derailed before it could even get started.

You started this thread about a sophomore high school kid and it damn sure wasn't because of an educational topic. Are 16 year old boys your obsession?

The Rivals Cal site also has Lazard wanting to visit there with quotes.

Quote:
That offense, and Cal's academic reputation, certainly fit Lazard's dream destination: "I'm not gonna go to a school doesn't throw the ball at all, that wouldn't benefit me. And I want to get a good degree."

Were he to find his way to Berkeley, Lazard would be the second Cyclone commit to flip in two years. Oddly enough, the first tripped to Ames the same day as Lazard last Fall.

"I met him at the West Virginia game," Lazard said of 2013 Cal OL signee Vincent Johnson. "He came up for his official, I remember talking to him, he was from Sacramento, it makes sense to stay home. Ames is different than Sacramento. It's different than California in general."

Different enough that the Rivals100 honoree said he may want to see it for himself.

"I'm going to take one official visit to Iowa State, then I might go to a few others, maybe a school on the West Coast, to a Cal or an Oregon, maybe also Florida, just somewhere that's fairly far away."

At this point, his interest outside ISU seems geared towards getting a few free weekend escapes.

Ulis is pretty much the prototype Ferentz bulk up and play DL recruit.

Coach Ferentz is a great coach, and I have a lot of coaching ties, as far as him coaching my dad when he played for Cleveland and the Ravens in the '90s. I know he’s a great coach, I know he puts his offensive linemen in the NFL.” Brown said he thought Ferentz, Nick Saban and Bill Belichick may have attended his parents’ wedding.

It would be great to get him, but he didn't even make the initial Rivals 250 or 4* list. That is pretty bad for someone who is as big and as high profile as him. They must think he is incredibly lazy or simply not that talented.

The knock on him seems to be he is slow, too fat, not very strong, not agile, bends at the waist and generally needs a lot of work.

He wants to play right away, but he seems to be the perfect redshirt candidate.

You really can't teach that sort of size..

I think Alabama's all world OG Warmack was a 3 star..I wonder what ISU's LT Osemele was rated coming out of HS?

Dace Richardson is another guy that comes to mind..even tho a bit highly rated, he stepped in right away...He was still an all-conference player after being out for nearly 2 years after microfracture surgery.

Those are coaches kids. not stud players kids.
I was referring more to the relationship.

Great offense in many ways, but there aren't many NW QBs that get through 4 years there in one piece.

I always kinda thought he'd be a Hawkeye.

Of course, that is based on literally zero articles read or any other information that might potentially tip me off in that direction.
