so UVA went from 78th to 40th to 28th in total defense. they were 52nd in 2009 before he came playing a 3-4. no idea if he can recruit, he's an unexciting hire but is probably a little overqualified to be DB coach (presuming he takes Wilson's spot directly)

I had plenty of time to come to terms with this one. If we get an abrupt surprise hire of another former Davis colleague retread to replace Erb, I might react with more emotion as opposed to the resigned despondency the Kennedy announcement evoked.

OK, I'll try. Parker is obviously staying as DC but it looks like the Reid hire is an attempt to duplicate the later years Norm dynamic on the staff (esp the very successful years of 08 and 09), Reid will sort of be a DC Emeritus?

Just "throwing shit at the walls", but if there is some "plan" here than I would have to guess that's it. Or there is no plan and this was just the best Reid could do and this is just the latest scatter-shot hiring of an assistant at Iowa. At least REid isn't Greg Robinson.

What I'm worried about is that old guys like GD and Reid are attracted to Iowa and KF because they know they can play out out their coaching golden years in a low pressure place where they won't be held accountable and will stay in the good graces of the powers that be merely by being "high quality" people.
