It would be smart to hire at least one person of color among the new coaches. You already sort of did with Hernandez, but hiring another young African-American would be the best thing to do.

not really. NE runs a lot, with a high percentage of zone blocking over the past few seasons. they definitely need to re-introduce the use of the intermediate and deep seams from the TE and the middle of the field in general, but as you know i feel like moving away from these was more a product of a shitty QB and lumbering TE than any specific offensive strategy.

When I saw that tweet today that was my feeling as well. If he couldn't find a job after coaching the likes of Braylon Edwards, Steve Breaston, Marquis Walker at Michigan and the 2 best receivers (stats wise) at Iowa, then his reputation must not be good.

I know Percy Harvin at least used to return kicks and their punter is for gay rights. Anyone have any deeper insight?

They were great, but most of that can be attributed to Blair Walsh's leg.

Yes. Someone can correct me if wrong, but I believe they were top 10 in the league last year.

I think "doesn't matter" is a bit strong. I certainly don't think Iowa would want an all white staff...it faces enough perception challenges already.

#5 in the league last year. Partially thanks to Walsh's kicking and a couple Harvin returns but their return and coverage units were solid as well.

I like this hire. I have no idea what he's going to do with the RB's but I think that's about as plug and play as it gets for a position spot. Our special teams have been so frustrating, I like the idea of having one guy with NFL experience running them. Should have a solid background for recruiting too.
