Default Mitt Romney: Maybe Veterans' Health Care Should Be Privatized

Quote:
Mitt Romney floated an eyebrow-raising suggestion on Veterans Day: privatize veterans' health care.

"When you work in the private sector and you have a competitor, you know if I don't treat this customer right, they're going to leave me and go somewhere else, so I'd better treat them right," Romney said. "Whereas if you're the government, they know there's nowhere else you guys can go. You're stuck.

Where does this idiot come up with these ideas?

LMAO that a private sector employee can just up and and change health insurance if they don't like what they've got much easier than a veteran. Both basically would need to find a new job.

He was talking about the VA health care system, which is a provider of health care, not insurance. Mitt saying that veterans should be able to go to a network of providers outside of the VA system, which would increase competition and reduce costs.

That goes against Obamacare, which by rule strives to put all providers and health insurors under one roof, the fed roof. Under the feds' thumb, is where we ought to be. According to Obozo.

I'm with Romney on this one. In fact, I would go further and eliminate the VA system and just replace it with buying HC insurance for these people.

I used to do a lot of deliveries to a VA hospital in San antonio, it was sad how run-down that thing was, and sad how all these elderly vets were just sitting there in the lobby with nothing to do, in wheelchairs, like they were in jail. Real sad. We send these guys off to fight for us then treat them like crap when they return.

The current, monopolized system is very bad, moby. I have three people in my circle of friends that would testify to that fact.

Of course this is very threatening to a monopolist like moby and most other "progressives".

That's too bad about your friends because I have nothing from praise for the VA as they have treated me in the past.

Good post FaB, I agree.
