Default Why are the Olympic divers wearing random strips of tape?

Some on their backs, some on their thighs. What's it doing? Googling provided little results

It is kinesio tape. More than just divers wear it. Kerri Walsh (photo below) was one of the first people I remember wearing it during the last Olympics.
