Q. Will Greg Davis be your offensive coordinator in is 2013?
COACH FERENTZ: As far as I know, yeah.
Q. What has he done over the last few months that demonstrates him remaining on your staff next year?
COACH FERENTZ: Wow, the firing line, huh? I think Greg's an excellent football coach. He's a tremendous professional and a tremendous person. So I've got every bit of confidence that Greg will be in. Not only getting into tenures or job security and all that stuff. That's not what we're here for. But Greg's a tremendous football coach. We wouldn't have brought him here ten months ago or however many if we didn't feel that way. I feel stronger about the kind of coaching person he is now after working with him.
There's hope.

I don't see it.

If anything, he made it clear that he thought Davis' performance was not only acceptable but exemplary, and - taking a page out of the Monster book - that he has no expectations that Davis will do better or even make any changes in pursuit of improvement next year.

If I'm Greg Davis, I'm leaning back, putting my feet up on my desk and surfing the internet for the next 6 months.

Basically Davis could pass away shortly. Hope.

I still think there is the slightest possibility that he is setting all of this up for Davis to retire or leave after recruiting is over.

Yeah - and I thought Brad Banks would get the majority of snaps over McCann in the second half against Michigan too.

After recruiting is over makes no sense to me. His departure would not be a negative in that regard. At all. At least if spun properly.

And if you wait that long and don't promote from within, you're stuck with another Davis-like reject.

This would be completely asinine.

Which is why its likely to happen under KF's leadership.

I'm surprised no questions about clock management. Isn't there a CLE the staff could attend?

Or about the possibility that the passing game just might not be suited to the types of players Iowa has and can reasonably be expected to get. Generally sucky questions, I felt.

What specifically about the passing game? Greg Davis is a great person.
