Petras has a strong arm. That is the one positive attribute he possess, that’s it. He’s well below average at every other aspect of the QB position. At some point he is going to get booed at Kinnick so we have that to look forward to.

He was booed yesterday at Kinnick when he threw that terrible pass to Charlie Jones.

Watched the sequence where Petras gets the delay of game and they run the fake punt.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but taking a delay of game doesn't seem what anyone was expecting or wanted. Spencer following Brian on the sideline pleading his stupidity and seeing Brian walking away completely ignoring him tells me he can't fucking stand him and is about as shit full as the rest of us with him.
I didn't see the game live, so not sure if covered in Chat, but in the fuck run that fake, there? If one is going to go for it, line up and plop your dick's all over the Golden Flashes and make a statement. If not going for it, punt. Why try to get cute, there, at that time? Just run an actual play, or punt the ball. Either was better than that fake attempt that had no chance of success.

I think they were fucking livid at Petras and just tried to run something to make up for it.

They clearly did not want him to take a penalty. Goodson was pissed and giving a body language like "what the fuck are you doing??".

Goodson was super pissed. All the way to the sideline. Kept hitting his leg. Like he saw something before the delay of game and knew he would have went for a lot of yards.

If we are offensively conservative and don't trust our shitty quarterback, why in the hell do we rarely see 2 tight ends and just pound the fucking ball? Wisconsin style.

They're stacking the box! Let's go 3 wide and then run an RPO with a slow, pants shitting quarterback who has never kept the ball. The offense has zero identity.

LOL. No.

People forget how good JVB was in 2011. Especially that Pitt game where he literally threw his way to a comeback win. He threw for over 3,000 yards that year and 25 TD against 7 INTs. GDGD ruined him.
no. He had exceptional receivers. He was even worse at locking in on a guy.

I also think it’s time to consider the fact that our receivers might be mediocre and unable to get separation.

Umm, there were plenty of times where Tracy and Nico were wide open as Spencer was locked onto his first read. He literally rarely progresses through his reads. If his first read isn't open, often times he throws it away.

You mean like that PA pass when Charlie Jones was wide open and Petras just chucked it into the turf in front of him?

Petras is extremely uncomfortable holding the ball more than 3 seconds, that's a problem that should get him benched. That's the reason they don't have a vertical passing game.

Instead of 7 on 7 passing drill all summer they should of had 3 young OL vs 3 young DL. Give him 3 reads he has to make and he can't throw to first read meanwhile having Linemen live able to hit him. It would have developed everyone

I'm sure ol' Spencer has been told about a million times by now not to turn the ball over under any circumstances, and he's really latched on to that.

We're stuck with him unless he starts to give the ball away, and I'm certainly not cheering for that to happen as long as we're winning consistently.

Just have to hope he gets out of his head and finds a little edge or attitude or whatever you want to call it. I just don't think he has it in him. He seems like a real nice kid but lacking in intensity.

Yes, I think the aversion of TO's has ruined alot of the QB's we've had, especially if they are not able to manufacture plays with their feet

I don’t think it’s intensity or edge that he lacks. He’s just extremely uncomfortable in the pocket. Even with a clean pocket and no threat of being sacked he freaks out after 2-3 seconds and runs himself into pressure. Pants shitter sums it up so well with him

Iowa has done this before prior to a trick play. Someone will have to help me out as to when it was that Kirk has done it. I would guess the strategy is psychological although I don’t agree with it.

Reminds me of when a buddy of mine said something to Riley McCarron mom about him fair catching all the time and she responded with, "he does that because that's what the coaches tell him to do..."

We had a QB who threw a pick-6 every game. He ended up fine...but he wasn't a faggot, so he battled thru with grit and determination. He also had actual positives to his game, so you lived with the turnovers.

Petras does nothing well, other than be a pussy. I'm not the coach, but that's not what I'd look for in the QB position, regardless of how good I thought the defense was.

Kirk, Brian and O'Keefe should all be ashamed of themselves. One of the best defenses in the country, but they've limited the ceiling by hooking their wagon to a complete fag.

He sucks. It doesn't take a stats nerd to see that. It sucks because if you had CJB, Stanzi, Tate or Banks this could be an undefeated or 11 win team. I'm glad the hawks keep winning in spite of him.

I'd throw Stanley in the mix. He had his frustrating moments, but he didn't freeze when pressured a little.

I'm 100% certain he's cried in practice before after getting yelled at. Just sobbed.

All the other players have to treat him like their retarded little brother.
Not a great way for your field general to gain the respect of his teammates. And quite clearly confirms his mental midget status if true.

I bet he looks great in practice, when there is absolutely no pressure on him.

Do you think the equipment managers complain about the amount of shit they have to wash out of his pants after the game?

They just soak everything in giant tubs, so they probably don’t have to do much.

The “capped at 9-3” stuff is unfathomably retarded, gentlemen. They may lose their two coin flip games and another one they’re favored in, but the idea that is has to happen is ridiculous.
Agreed. I doubt the defense gives up 20 points more than once or twice all season. Even when the offense is “off” they will be in good shape each game.

The defense and special teams are both all timers. Goodson is the best back Iowa’s had in a loooooooong time. Tight ends are fantastic, line is good and getting better with the best center Iowa’s ever had. That the coaching staff couldn’t find a grad transfer to run the offense, and that they’ve recruited the position so poorly Petras is the #1 and not really in question is football tragic. Petras is terrible, he can’t hold the ball and stay in a clean pocket long enough for receivers to even get to their breaks on deep routes. It sucks he plays.

I still don’t like Petras, but I’m calming down today on the overall state of this team and yesterday’s performance. HOK HOK HOK!

maybe Charlie Jones was wide open because the opposing DC knows he’s the 4th option in that play.

I don't mind Petras. I don't like his guitar.
