pets can’t choke themselves to death with a short leash
That’s not right.pets can’t choke themselves to death with a short leash
But Ulis should stayUhlis should go too
Not with that attitude.pets can’t choke themselves to death with a short leash
I thought Ulis was a fucking mess. Joe T has plenty of faults, but if I had a choice between the two, I'm taking the Key every time.Unitl the very end of the season I thought UIis was a better option at PG. He's very under control and needs to look to shoot more. He was very effective with Perkins on 2nd unit.
Obviously Bowen could be the starter from day one.
Beat me to it. I'm still gigglingConnor is the starting point
Not necessarily what we had in mind, but:I think Perkins starts at the point with Sandfart at the 2.

...looks fine to me.
No that's a pretty good team, homesIf this is our starting lineup next year I'll be pissed. And Iowa will be in the NIT.
I’ll be super pissed tooIf this is our starting lineup next year I'll be pissed. And Iowa will be in the NIT.
Always the fault of the coach.cant blame Joe. always had the short leash.
He kind of was for a good amount of time in our winning stretch.Just say no to Perkins at PG.
Good, yes.He kind of was for a good amount of time in our winning stretch.
Ulis was one of the worst shooters in a high major conference last year. He shot 46% at the rim (terrible), 25% from midrange (horrendous), and 33% from three. He sure as shit didn’t need to look to shoot MORE.Unitl the very end of the season I thought UIis was a better option at PG. He's very under control and needs to look to shoot more. I didn't see anything from Ulis that makes me believe he could be a starting PG in the BIG. Luckily, I think Bowen is going to be pretty good. I just hope he's pretty good from day one.Ulis was one of the worst shooters in a high major conference last year. To try and break JBos 3pt recordWhy the fuck is Connor coming back?
I don’t think anyone would be hoping he’d be the guy there full time. But he was effective basically playing there in spurts this year and is further insurance for Bowen and Ulis along with Connor.Good, yes.
PG, no.
"4 star Ulis was a fallback recruit" is a fucking Halo narrative, all rightThere’s a pretty big gap in their offer list though. Bowen was also the priority PG in this class from early on and Ulis was a later offer.
It really isn't. He didn't get offered until mid-July before his senior year and committed a few weeks later. His only other high major offer was DePaul. He wasn't top 150 until spring of his senior year."4 star Ulis was a fallback recruit" is a fucking Halo narrative, all right
Minute dist? While we are all guessing, Fran is already planning this lineup:
Connor
Perkins
Patrick
Kris
Rebecca
Whatever Margaret decidesMinute dist?
Player A: 6'8" 210 lb forward from a prep school 247 - 3 star, 89 rating, unranked overall in class. Rivals - 3 star, unranked. ESPN - unranked.I really like what I've watched of Bowen in the limited clips available, but it's a slippery slope of setting too high of expectations. I also had high hopes for Ulis. Recruiting wise they're pretty close to each other.
Player A: 247 - 3 star, 89 rating, #186 overall in class. Rivals - 4 star, #112 in class. ESPN - 3 star, 77 grade
Player B: 247 - 3 star, 89 rating, #148 overall in class. Rivals - 3 star, unranked in class. ESPN - 4 star, 82 grade
Iowa's best hope is Ulis takes a big step and Bowen is ready to contribute some minutes from game 1.
This guy outed himself as a 5* culture > 5* ratings.Player A: 6'8" 210 lb forward from a prep school 247 - 3 star, 89 rating, unranked overall in class. Rivals - 3 star, unranked. ESPN - unranked.
Player B: 6'8" 210 forward from a prep school 247 - 4 star, 96 rating, #54 overall in class. Rivals - 4 star, #44 in class. ESPN - 4 star, 89 grade, #31 in class.
Player A is obviously Keegan Murray, All-American and soon to be top 10 pick in the NBA draft. Player B is a fucking trash player whom none of you have ever heard of, Jaemyn Brakefield.
Recruiting rankings don't mean shit.
Bowen is the real deal and will be playing big minutes early. Fran's not letting Joe T leave if he isn't 100% sure he has a better player coming in.

Once you get outside of the 5*, no-brainer, top 25 kids, it gets really damn messy. Looking at the rivals 2020 class, you have soon-to-be NBA lottery picks Jaden Ivey at 79th overall, Johnny Davis 134, Benedict Mathurin unranked 4 star (because he's Canadian), and Keegan an unranked 3 star. Recruiting rankings are far from an exact science.Recruiting rankings do matter, especially in basketball.
Nothing in sports is an exact science homes, and for the example you provided there are a thousand in the other direction
It's not as much about the rankings but about where they are at the same stage in their careers. Ulis played very sparingly last season and Bowen may not be ready to be the starting PG from day 1 like many here assume. Fran has had a lot of really good players who made small contributions their freshman season.Player A: 6'8" 210 lb forward from a prep school 247 - 3 star, 89 rating, unranked overall in class.
