Hearing that Budmayr was briefly considered missing but was likely killed and meanwhile Brian underwent extensive plastic surgery to look like Budmayr, who will now be hired.

Has there been an announcement regarding Budamyr or is this another Douglas rumor

considering Budmayr's immediate impact improving our QB situation, not sure how this can't be a home run hire.
hopefully we can keep him from shortly fleeing for more lucrative positions elsewhere

No announcement, but seemingly everyone covering Iowa is warning the fans. Plus the job listing was taken down, so unless Kirk drags his dick across our faces and hires Johns as WR coach, seems pretty obvious it's Budmayr. Plus he was spotted watching a WR recruit with Kirk recently.

Fortunately for Bud, Kirk is not one to look a gift from the heavens in the mouth.

Because he actually wins, most likely.
The "a win is a win" crowd is among the dumbest of Iowa fans. And that's exactly the stupid shit Kirk does. A narrow "win" over a shit opponent = perfection, and nothing to be fixed. It is the exact mindset that leads to getting absolutely blown out by teams like Michigan and Penn State. Iowa has "won" a lot of games vs bad teams. They've also struggled to be even remotely competitive in games vs good competition.

They've made changes, hopefully they work. Getting super pissed about it isn't going to do anything.

Iowa is #11 in wins over the last decade. Kirk's a winner and hopefully this is the change the program needs.

The main thing is less that, it's that the bad offense didn't lead to the wins. If they'd had competent offense they could have more wins. It's not like basketball where you're recruiting players who have to play offense and defense.

So yeah, Kirk wins a lot. But as a fan, I'd also like it if he would have won another game every other year or so, which wouldn't have been unreasonable recently with competent offense.

I think pretty much every single person agrees with this. We can all say this but also not go "OMG Kirk doesn't care about winning!!!!!!!!"

He clearly does, he just happens to be flawed as fuck about it.

Yeah of course he cares about winning. There’s just other things (like his view of how it “should” be done) he values more. He would of course say he thinks that all contributes to the wins he does get - I just think he’s wrong - or at least overvalues - a few things.

It's wild, but he's both right and wrong at the same time. I just wish that he could see what many of us see, and that is if he just made some slight adjustments here and there we go from 8 wins to 10 wins and from 9 wins to 10 wins and 10 wins to 12 wins.

He thinks for whatever reason that if changes are made that the same likelihood Iowa slides from 9 wins to 7 wins, but that isn't how this works and that is the whole issue. It's not binary, you can change some thing and be killer on defense and stick to your philosophy at the same time without this unforeseen danger that you backslide the other way.

Completely anecdotal, but I know a handful of guys that have said fuck this and stopped donating anything extra (including swarm) until Kirk is gone. Not that they move the needle, but these are local business owner types that donate a decent chunk of change and have seats in one of the clubs.

they are just completely disappointed by the process and the hire and think it’s purely Kirk being a control freak. I imagine there is more than a couple of them out there.

I just wish he'd prioritize getting better receivers and QBs that don't fucking suck

That’s why you’re not a coach.

I'm not a professional psychologist, so I don't totally understand how to explain this....but I think you're spot on with a couple things: He "doesn't see." And the second paragraph essentially describes the problem; there is some sort of cognitive distortion that seems to prevent him from analyzing or viewing this appropriately.

But it's the very same thing that allows him to heavily consider woefully unqualified candidate like Budmayr for a promotion. Kirk has some level of trust in that relationship, that blinds him to that reality
