Who are we recruiting over? Tony and krikke both 30 mpg and Pat was over 20. Could easily add another high quality player without anyone's feelings getting hurt.

How do schools holding bake sales for NIL money - like ISU - seem to have no trouble drawing hoops talent?
I look at it like a job. If the environment is good you'll leave some money on the table. If the environment is shit, then why wouldn't you take more of the money.

Lipsey could make a shit ton more somewhere else. While ISU is winning, he's fine leaving some on the table. If they were .500, he'd be gone like Hunter and go get paid.

There's plenty of guys out there that are going to turn down a school like Georgia that has a lot of NIL money in exchange for a winning situation like Houston.

Like how much of a difference are we talking about? Like 300k at a winning place like Houston vs 400k at a place with some dough or is the gap larger than that?

well, we had three freshmen that should have got way more minutes this year. And we have two guys coming in that are more highly regarded than all of those freshmen.

so, I am guessing he plans to give all those guys 15 more mpg.

Dembele and Harding, sure. Fartman jr played as much as he should have played if not more than he deserved.

Neither of them should be getting a single P5 minute.
If your only choice is between two dudes who don’t defend or rebound, I would prefer the one who has shown they can shoot efficiently.

Pat shot 44% from the field to Pryce’s 35.

They are both garbage, non-P5 players.

Pryce will be key player on 3 NCAA tourney teams. Probably a starter on 3 of them. Consensus 4* recruit. Iowa Mr Basketball.

not a HM player.

That thought should give you more than a little pause.

Perhaps I’m misunderstanding your point, but it seems to be “this is basically fine, iowa competes well enough, enough of the time. This is fine, the risk to change is too much.” And please correct me if that’s incorrect.

My point is that Fran has been pretty good. But Iowa needs a different coach and new program that cares about defense and rebounding because Fran has proven to be unable to do that. And that will give them the best chance at success on court.
I for one, tremendously appreciate Alan's consistency with his takes on Iowa sports. Taking both coaches to task for refusing to change certain elements of their programs is a perfectly valid criticism.

But I think it's also fair to point out that support and resources the two coaches have been given have been wildly different across their careers here at Iowa. Which, in fairness, probably doesn't change the argument he's making.

I would like to proactively go on record and say that we are going to be pretty good next year.

-Harding is going to take a huge jump with consistent minutes
-Freeman will be an all conference player
-Sandfort will be pretty similar but 1st team all conference.
-Dix will be healthy and consistent from the jump
-Pryce will play 15-20 mpg and have a jump similar from his brother’s freshman to soph year
-All those pasty fucks have a desire to guard and win
-Not worried about rebounding or blocking shots with Freeman, Dembele, and Tadjo.
-Koch will be similar to frosh Payton but physically ahead.

Overall, bad for DEI initiatives but good for fans.
I agree with 1, 2, and 3. The rest are LOL.

Because I think Fran will play him out of position, and that he'll try to do too much...and end up playing inconsistently.

As long as our typical fan looks and acts like Alan, nothing is changing.
Let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater here. Alan has a lot of good Iowa sports takes.

Unfortunately, we turn every argument on the internet into a False Dilemma
