Fran is recruiting at the same level he was pre -NIL. I don't think he's going to be someone that pulls a bunch of big recruits at a different school with a bigger checkbook.
He is? This is basically the first time he’s been able to use it. There was nothing to offer during the transfer cycle last year and virtually nothing when he got outbid for guys like Estrella last summer and early fall.

I’m not expecting anything crazy but there’s nothing to back up your statement. We’ll see how the petal shakes out the next 6-8 weeks.

Iowa should have a better program than Creighton. Why can't Fran recruit as well as McDermott? Are their academic standards lower?

Instead of asking me if some random podunk teams that I don't remember were top 16, if they the made it to Sweet 16 the answer is yes. This isn't difficult. The tournament is the best metric we've got and believing otherwise is simply unamerican.
Fritz is correct. If you made it to the Sweet 16, you finished in the top 16. If you make it to the Super Bowl you finish in the top 2. It’s not a commentary on the regular season.

This goes against what 247 said which was Fran has been telling recruits that he is staying at Iowa -- and thinks they have a lot of possibilities with NIL and the caliber of team that they are building at Iowa.
Coaches lie to recruits. I don’t know if that is or isn’t the case here, but I wouldn’t take what a coach tells a recruit to be the absolute truth.

Fran’s NIL…warchest (???) was roughly 1/6th of what it is today 12 months ago

Yeah, Fran isn't going to tell recruits "I'm leaving, but even if I stay, we're going to suck because I have no money. Come join us".
well actually it’s pretty amazing how little these kids care about winning.

Not all coaches, but I understand your sentiment.

It’s not like this is limited to coaches. It is 100% possible to execute in your current job while considering other opportunities.

to me, it is common sense that high performers will have opportunities to leave. My parents both worked in their careers for 40+ years. I came out of school looking for something similar. I got over that quickly. If someone leaves you for a different job, it is likely because they either realize it’s not a good fit, or they made you better and moved up in their career.

So did Iowa win the big ten conference last year?
Not in my mind. It's basically a fun exhibition where you get to potentially watch your team play for consecutive days.

Wouldn't surprise me if the "Fran should stay" guys think so though because they have a loser mentality.

Any coach who does not win the national championship should be fired, because thinking otherwise is a loser mentality

Actually looking at metrics/polls/NET/whatever.

But you know this, and it refutes your stupid point, so you are using something dumb like the Sweet Sixteen.
So no need for March Madness. JFC

Iowa needs a reboot in the basketball department.

High time to clone some Lute Olson.

If Patrick transfers, Fran can stay.

Otherwise, I'm sorry, you must go like KF will have to go. And if you don't, we will murder you and everyone you hold dear.

Pat has a covid year. He has 2 more years of eligibility.

Imagine Spencer starting several games this fall and then following that up with 30 mpg from PMac.

Having Kirk and Fran as your coaches is kind of like fucking a hot chick that has a questionable herpe on her labia
