Bob's DPOY puts him up there as well even though it was only for one year. I'm biased though as he's my favorite hawk of the KF era.

Hard to argue Yandas consistency up near the top.

Keep in mind the other 4 positions have been in a state of constant flux. They haven't re-signed a single OL of consequence long-term since he's been there.

Yanda is going in the Hall one day, boyz.

Bob would have been #1 if he could have stayed in the field. Few guys have made a bigger impact but only 50 games over 8 seasons, woof.

His style is completely prohibited today, too. Which is too bad.

In terms of career impact, clearly Yanda.

No love for Aaron Kampman?

Profootballreference has a top 10 (by their Weighted Career Approx. Value stat) of:

Yanda
Greenway
Kampman
Babineaux
Clark
Steinbach
Gallery
Bulaga
Sanders/Betts
Cole/Godfrey

Sanders hurt by his short career, and Kaeding by being a kicker.

Edit: to add Ladell Betts tied w/ Sanders and Godfrey tied w/ Cole. Missed them the first time through

Who do you think had the better pro player: Ferentz or Fry?

I'd go with Fry and Andre Tippett.

Jay Hilgenberg and Merton Hanks had pretty good NFL careers, not sure they were better than Tippett though

Lots of pro bowls between Bortz and Hilgenberg. I'm surprised Jay hasn't been mentioned for the HOF
Bortz only made two pro bowls. Hilgenberg made 7. So yes, there are a lot of pro bowls between them but Bortz didn't contribute much to that total

Now, you're picking at nits but 7 pro bowls and 5 all pro teams is quite impressive. That's more than Jeff Saturday and comparable to Dwight Stephenson who is in the HOF

Hilgenberg should definitely be in the hall of fame. I think he'll eventually get in. Seems every year, there's one player from a long time ago that gets in.

From the NFL thread. Not a single mention in this thread, which I thought was interesting, potentially anyways.

It's Yanda by a decent margin, he's been the best interior OL in the NFL for the last 5 years or so. His longevity at the top is unbelievable.

Debating #2 is a lot more interesting. Bob was an elite player, for a very short time. Daniels has stuck around, and is just entering his prime as a Top 5 or so interior DL. It really comes down to longevity versus a shooting star.

My best friend is a Ravens fan and constantly thanks me for Yanda.

That said, Bob Sanders is without a doubt the finest pro Ferentz put in the league. Short tenure or not, he was DPOY and a critical piece on that '07 Super Bowl team. A rare player who bent the game to his favor when he was on the field.

Shouldn't he be thanking you for Brandon McKinney?

First thought I had when I saw this thread bumped, TBH. But I’ll wait for the offseason to read a Mt Rushmore from a beat writer to decide.
