I think we’re going to know by about the second media timeout if they have any shot at winning. I’m not optimistic, but I also don’t think it matters much if they get wrecked by a top five team on the road.

Didn’t they make it to the 2nd tv timeout with MSU only to get their shit pushed in?

Every time I've seen ISU this year it seems like every shot goes in. Momcilovic is shooting a ridiculous 53.6% from 3. Team almost 44%, which I think is tops in the NCAA. Be nice if the heat check hits tonight.

I don't know, that game was thoroughly out of reach by the time I got home that night. Just a feeling that if Iowa State is going to be red hot, it'll be evident right away.

Probably the biggest difference for their team this year. Momcilovic often killed them the last 2 years because he's a chucker and he shoots the ball about 95% of the time he touches it and he sucked at shooting. It's crazy to watch. Never even thinks about passing. Now all of a sudden this year he's draining everything. It sucks.

And it doesn't hurt that Jefferson made the leap from good to very good and Lipsey is just a fucking stud.

But you're right, if they shoot like this they are a national title contender. But I doubt it's sustainable. Barring injury I'd say they cruise into the sweet 16 and have a good shot to make the elite 8 and then they fall.

I see we’re at the stage of the season where ISU has peaked and is playing like gang busters only to somehow get blasted in the 2nd round by a lower seed. Tj runs them into the ground or something.

I don’t think Iowa does better than keeping it kind of competitive. That said, let’s reel it in on the Clones. They had a similar buzz going in late January last year and we saw how that ended.

They’re a bunch of big gay retarded loser faggots. No surprise you’re defending them to the bitter end. You and Thrawn gonna buttfuck during the game?
I'm not really sure where he lives but you can count on me finding you Sunday at the bike racks at SOLDIER FIELD!

That’s called the UhlJoktoff. Then when they start missing shots and the rest of the team is expected to pick up their play they can’t because they spent 2.5 months watching 2 players do all the work and they have no idea what to do.

Early last year they had a dominant guard tandem in Lipsey and Gilbert, but both had significant injuries that limited their effectiveness, and shortened their bench when Heise had to start a bunch of games. Once conference games start, good coaching can limit your effectiveness if you rely on a, or only a couple, key scorers. ISU pressure and double teams can be beat when teams move the ball enough to find the open look from three. The challenge is getting it to that open guy before you turn it over to the pressure. I haven't seen any team be able to shoot it consistently at the clip that ISU did against Purdue, so that astronomical percentage has to come back to earth. A key for the Hawks will be if they can do better on the boards limiting 2nd chance points when ISU does miss.

3. Iowa scores more points than Iowa State.
3b would settle for Iowa state scoring fewer points than Iowa

Like everyone else, I don't expect Iowa to win. But I do expect them to look more like Drake did last year against Texas Tech, than Iowa against Michigan State.
