ISU and TJ have had the good fortune of a 4-year All-American point guard grow up in their backyard. That's unlikely to ever happen again. They'll take a big step back next year.

And TJ will likely be gone...which is nice.

Iowa State and TJ have been aggressively paying basketball players way before NIL, so they have the experience edge.

I was strictly talking about Carver. I don't know a thing about Hilton
You were replying to my reply to Doug who said Hilton has a distinct advantage with their arena as a reason for their success.

I know it’s the forbidden fruit in here, but if Carver were rocking for McCollum the way that it was for Caitlin Clark’s heyday then you wouldn’t think Carver was a drawback to the success. When Carver is rocking, it is great.

It took a run to the Final Four for CHA to be rocking like it should have been. That's a lot to ask for Ben to do in order to get the fans back.

CBB has just become so casual for most fans it’ll take a final four run probably

What year are you referring to?

False. Carver was rocking pretty well the year following a first weekend exit.

The problem has never been CHA. It wouldn't get as loud as it does for wrestling and WBB if it were.

The problems are these:

1. The miserable fuck Bowlsby saw fit to hire as MBB coach in 1999, who I refuse to refer to by name because he's a miserable fuck, running the program into the ground while also backing a serial rapist to the hilt, undermining fan support even in the one year the team was objectively good;

2. (1) being compounded by Barta hiring a NCOY who, as it turned out, had no clue as to how to build a program back from the smoking crater it had become and just ended up smoothing out the hole;

3. The loaded geriatric knitters whose decrepit and increasingly wide posteriors cannot be pried from their prime seats owing because money, who only get loud when (a) the poors design to impede the line of sight they don't use, and (b) when they get gassy from their lack of mobility.

Success will fix (1) and (2), and Fran to his credit brought some of the fan support back before his limitations were exposed. Beth just needs to swing her dick around a bit more to solve (3).

Carver has to be one of the only arenas where you can have the sun in your eyes taking a shot. I like Carver cuz it's ours. I don't want to change it, I just want to win every game we play.

CHA is a poorly designed arena for both crowd noise and convenience and it’s hideously ugly from the outside. None of that has ever stopped me from attending a basketball game I wanted to go to though, and I don’t know why it would stop anyone else either. The arena, even though it sucks, cannot possibly be the reason for the poor attendance.

The lowest attendance figure during the 14-15 season was 12,333. They had over 14k for Northwood, whoever the fuck that is.

The attendance is directly connected to the product on the floor and the individual leading the program.

If you build it, they will come.

Fran was great for the time. He brought a refreshing style of play, was engaged with the fans, and had passion on the sideline. He also had the benefit of some good individual defensive players that covered up a bad scheme for a good portion of the first half of his tenure.

His problems were never fixing the defensive philosophy, and becoming apathetic to standoff-ish while not winning. It got stale and tired, and the enthusiasm for the program took a hit.

Carver sucks, can’t argue otherwise. But it can still be a great environment. Having an actual student section that is engaged and a good product will do wonders.
I’ll argue Kinnick absolutely sucks as a venue. But it’s got character and a great atmosphere, especially for big games.

I’ve never had an issue with the seats except that they don’t have cupholders, which is annoying
Aren’t there cup holders on the back of the seat in front of you?

I love Carver. Always have. Don’t know if it’s nostalgia or what, but I enjoy going to games there.
