If they don’t miss obvious shit like this against Williams, he isn’t able to do what he did in OT since he should have been disqualified and sitting on the bench.

Just wish they didn't have their heads up their collective asses for much of the first half. Not even mad about the game, just frustrated.

To be fair, that foul that allowed bohannon to shoot three free throws was pretty questionable.

Iowa made that comeback playing really good man to man defense.

Like people have been saying, they’re capable, they just relax on that end too much when shots aren’t falling.

But man that second half was fun and you could see how much it means to the players when they showed Cook on the bench at the end. He knows he cost them.

Sure but that was a makeup for the bullshit call on Cook when the TN guard just lost the ball out of bounds. We could do this all day. Fuck college refs.

There are a lot of reasons why they could have won and could've lost.

Let's all take a breath and think about how they were down 7 with 5 minutes left. That Moss 3 was huge. The 4 point swing with Jordan's 3 was massive. The 3 FTs on a questionable call were everything. Garza's FTs? Also big. The fact that they got it to overtime was a miracle.

Yeah Moss shit the bed in overtime, but god damnit, what a game, what an effort. This was the most enjoyable basketball season in years. There's a lot to build on and hopefully, Fran gets a defensive minded coach in here in the offseason.

Williams should have fouled out on that "block" on Cook. He fouls out and Tennessee has nothing.

Not to go all Paul Rhoads, but that game made me proud to be a Hawkeye. Those kids fought their asses off.

Weiskamp and Garza are absolute warriors. We will always be good while those guys are on campus.

We have a chance to be really great next year. I think Cook will be back. It will be a little sad not to see the Hunchback of Bettendorf out there, however.

He’s a good kid and Hawkeye.

cooks unrefined game rears its head in the last 40 seconds, a turnover and 3missed free throws, and only 2 rebounds in 36 minutes doesnt get it done, William's outplayed him in ot and was the difference

JBo had a couple wide open looks late he missed. Had to be tired after being hand checked the whole game

I have no idea what Cook is trying to do on offense sometimes. His defense wasn’t great either.

Guys.....this isn't CF.

Take it easy.
The refs had little to do with a 25-point deficit but it sure was frustrating watching them swallow their whistle every time Williams was involved in a play.
It feels like everytime down the refs missed a call one way or the other. The block calls on bohannon and Cook were terrible as was the missed travel. But the foul on bohannon's three and phantom foul when Garza got the ball at the elbow were terrible too. The refs are amazingly bad and it makes it worse that we have to listen to Staratore's dumbass act like the game is just so quick.

We aren’t sniffing that game without Moss. Hopefully that helps him going into next year. We need him to be consistent.
This is true, but in the OT he did all the same things he did during the season that killed the offense.

Cook was one of the biggest reasons why they got to OT so can't really fault him too much. They just ran out of gas

I don’t understand why this is allowed. It’s completely against the “freedom of movement” they preach and preach.

While he isn’t the most skilled player, he is a good enough athlete to overcome it at the college level. He just has ADHD out there.

Jbo's turnover late in regulation hurt. IIRC they had the chance to take the lead there and he just lost the ball on a drive.

Would have been awesome had he hit that 3.

Yeah they played like shit to fall behind 25.

But That team played their asses off in second half against a team that has a chance to win it all and almost pulled off a historically epic comeback.

And they did it while the entire country was watching.

The bohannon call was basically a makeup call from the Cook foul call on the other end.

Iowa lost this game by missing free throws in the first half and OT. Well, and getting down 25. They also came back because Rick Barnes is a moron and left Schoffield on the bench waaaay too long.

He forces things that don’t need to be forced. He’s got great outside shooters to kick it out to, and a terrific inside scorer with Garza. Great kid, who plays with a lot of heart. Just tries to do too much, too often.

I would also like to single out how calmly true freshman Joe Weiskamp stepped to the line and nailed two free throws to send it to OT.

I don’t understand why this is allowed. It’s completely against the “freedom of movement” they preach and preach.
Agreed. Doug already said it but he’s swatting them away all game. How is there not a single foul called against that in 45 minutes?

I thought the NCAA was trying to crack down on hand checking. Tennessee did it every time down the court. Jbo was swatting the guys hand away and still couldn't draw 1 call on it.

Jbo is the most fouled guard in America. And I've never understood it. At one point #2 actually wrapped his arms around him in a hug, then tried to flop and draw a fold when Jbo got away.

Also let's give Jordan some mother fucking love.

Dude is the all-time 3PT shooter in program history and he hasn't even stepped on the court for his senior season. He's going to obliterate Horner's record next year.

Gawd, that was fun as hell:
Obviously wish it could have gone differently, but they fought their asses off and I'm proud as hell of them. Also, shoutout to Frank Garza for being today's breakout star:

If bohannon keeps up this rate of about 90 3’s per year, he will finish his career 2nd all-time in the big ten. I guess Carsen Edwards is a few 3’s ahead of bohannon so if he sticks around bohannon might have trouble keeping up with a high volume dude like that.

Loved the double foul. At that point I was just happy to see a little fight in them.
