"I've had the good fortune to work with -- and learn from -- a number of great coaches, two who are coaching Saturday in the AFC Divisional Playoffs, Bill O'Brien with the Houston Texans and Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots. It was an invaluable post-graduate coaching program for me. They taught me the value of coaching to your players' strengths… and instilled in me a relentless determination to win.

"As we look ahead to 2017, we will develop this Iowa team to be tough, smart, and physical -- the foundation of Iowa football for the past 18 years. But to compete for a Big Ten championship, we must also be adaptable and flexible -- to make the changes necessary that will give us the best opportunity to win."

I either love or hate this hire.

Or I think it's okay.

I'm fine with it. They weren't getting anyone better. I'm more interested in seeing what other assistant changes we see.

That's certainly encouraging.

Well, that's a novel idea.

We won't be changing everything, however. We will continue to throw the ball 3 yards when we need 5 on 3rd down.

Here are Iowa fan responses so far on Reddit:

Well that's boring as shit.
Really. I was looking for someone who could actually do something with our offense.
I... I don't know what I was expecting.
Everyone thought Greg Davis was a shakeup after KOK left. I'm holding my judgement until I see what product he can put on the field
There are a number of fans on r/cfb and r/collegebasketball that annoy the shit out of me.

@castichawk24 - I'll keep you posted.

Short of out right saying that Greg Davis sucked and needs to die in a fire, this is nice to hear.
also, hard to read that quote and imagine them keeping Kennedy

This is great news. I can't wait to hear the rest of the changes to the staff.

First CyFan response:

"Snicker"
LOL. If a similar situation happened at ISU they'd be building him up as a head coach worthy guy that they "stole" as OC.
They would blow their collective load if Tony Yelk was named HC. Best ISU player of all time Imo

To be fair, that feller snickering over on CyFan might still be missing his eyeglasses.
