This. Kick the shit out of Iowa State for the 6th time in a row and then beat Minnesota (again) and the season is off to a great start. Minnesota is losing a fuckton more than Iowa, they’ll be in worse shape for being limited. Iowa will roll.

Honestly this way favors us. Here's a comparison of the teams Iowa and Minnesota face the week before the game:

• History: Iowa coming off a team they've beat 5 times in 5 years, Minnesota hasn't managed to beat Tennessee Tech once in that time frame
• ISU has 2 conference championships, and none in the last 100 years. Tennessee Tech has won 10 of them
• ISU recently nearly lost to non-scholarship Drake, Tennessee Tech did not

My dislike with this is Iowa is a slow starting/developmental team breaking in a new QB on the road. On a short week after a rivalry game. Minnesota essentially will have an extended week for this game. It makes it pucker

Does this mean Iowa will not have to host a Thursday/Friday night game moving forward? I recall, when this change went into effect, that every Big Ten school was required to do at least one of these games. I imagine hosting a Thursday/Friday night game at Kinnick would be a disaster for parking.

IIRC, Iowa said they would only host a Friday night game if it was on Labor Day weekend.

I can also say as someone that lives out of state and has been looking for more reasons to get the fuck out of Texas when it is still 100+ degrees here, a mid-September trip for a Friday night game in Minneapolis (in a stadium that sells alcohol) to watch a couple of ranked teams sounds great.

Fly out on Thursday. Spend the day downtown drinking and at the game and then celebrate after, relax and have fun in the city on Saturday and fly home on Sunday. Nice little trip.
