1 in 2014 (Rudock - Purdue)
2 in 2009 (Stanzi - Ohio State, Minnesota)
2 in 2006 (Tate - Syracuse, Northern Illinois)

That is all I can remember off hand. Maybe there was someone in the first 2 shitty years, but 2001-2019 Iowa QB's have only missed 5 games due to injury.

Iowa has had 3 QB's during that time that ran often enough (Banks, Tate, Beathard) and only one of them ever missed a game. It also isn't like Iowa doesn't allow sacks or guys like Stanley and Beathard were beat to shit in a lot of games.

Some is style, but think it is a lot of luck.

My freshman year at Iowa (2000), Scott Mullen was benched for Jon Beutjer after four games. Beutjer got hurt in game 8 which opened the door for Kyle McCann to start the last four games. Other than that, it’s just those five games in nearly twenty years.

I think the last time anyone non-twitter or Wal-Mart Iowa Fan truly complained about Kirk was after the bowl game in 2014. Since then I think most are pretty happy with him.

He is 64 years old and in good shape. He loves to coach and seems motivated. The program is winning at a consistently higher clip and recruiting and player development keeps getting better and better.

It won't surprise me if his plan is to go until 70 like Hayden did. That would take him to the 2025 season. Phil Parker doesn't seem like he is going anywhere either. His salary is up to $750k and they could easily go to $1m+ if anyone tried to poach him.

There are some things to clean up in the running game and with the offense overall, but I don't think they are far off.
