Zero surprise here, it was just a matter of time. He's one of the most talented and productive pass catching TEs to ever walk through these doors. His HS tape is just play after play that look exactly like he did today. The catch is that he played zero TE snaps before he arrived in IC this summer so he has been learning inline blocking from scratch.
And he seemingly had to agonize on whether to take a late Iowa offer or a MAC offer. It was one of those "How is this kid not a major recruit?" deals.
Comparing anyone to Hockenson is unfair but it's really hard not to with him.

Chauncey was a bad man today.
He's been awesome the last 3 or 4 weeks. Even if he's not getting sacks he's getting a lot of pressure
That's the whole line. Kinda the story of the whole defense this year: no position group is generating their version of big plays (sacks, strip/fumbles, int.) but the group is kicking serious ass overall.

Nothing stands out other than the hard results. It’s impressive.

Hoping that 2019 Northwestern game mirrors the 2015 Northwestern game in a few ways. That was the game that Iowa discovered Wadley was actually really good due to injury and maybe this year is the game where Iowa discovers their new TE Laporta is really good due to injury.

I like the other 2 TE's, but it is pretty obvious that Laporta is on another level when it comes to getting open and pass catching. His blocking is pretty good as well.

Goodson also continues to show he should be the featured back.

The offense didn't exactly click, but it was better and they found some explosive plays. They should have scored like 40 points but whatever.

LaPorta emerging would be a huge development.

I’m not sure how Goodson was able to play after getting his foot rolled up on. Looked nasty on the replay.

Perhaps some more depth in the D-line with Evans and Waggoner.

Brian better come with some wrinkles for Wisconsin.

Iowa has recorded four shutouts in Big Ten play over a two-year span for the first time since 1956-57.

Most Career Wins as a Starting QB - All-Time

Chuck Long - 34
Ricky Stanzi - 26
Nate Stanley - 23

I didn't get to watch the game very closely yesterday, but now watching. The second drive where Iowa had 3rd and 6 at the 17 yardline and everyone shit on Paulsen is a play that sticks out.

Paulsen deserves every bit of shit he catches, but even if he blocks that perfectly it doesn't matter because Wirfs fucks up terribly as well. Northwestern ran the most basic of stunts and it completely fooled both sides of the line.

Stanley was a retard for not throwing the ball away given he did have 3 seconds, but what a terrible play by everyone.

2nd and 10 w/ 8:53 to go in the 1st quarter. There is barely any pressure and Stanley just completely freaks out and abandons the pocket and runs right towards a rusher that is able to chase after him.

He has such poopy pants.

The catch/non-catch by Laporta at 4:58.

Stanley is a fucking turd. What a garbage fucking throw. Should have been a TD if he hits him in stride.

Then he fucks up and can't get a snap off quick enough because he has to point and waste time.

Oh my fuck Stanley.

3:10 in the first quarter. Stanley has thrown to Ragani and he dropped it on 2nd and 6. Completely normal play.

They get the 3rd and 6 play into Stanley at 24 seconds on the play clock. He takes a full 9 seconds to tell the rest of the huddle the play. They break with 15 seconds on the clock.

Stanley waltzes up to the line and casually takes his time and points at a random defender with 6 seconds left. He backs up and sort of views the field and gets ready to snap. He has zero clue the play clock has expired and thankfully a member of the Iowa coaching staff called a timeout.

This is a Senior QB that has started for 3 straight years. He still has no urgency or awareness.

Fucking fat retard.

Somebody take Paulsen (both of them) out back and put them down like Old Yeller.

12:29 in the 2nd quarter. 3rd and 4.

Stanley has great protection but completely locks in on Sergent and throws a ball that is tipped and Sergent is surrounded by 3 guys. Stanley didn't even bother to look at the other 3 receivers that were running routes.

The hands to the face call on Epenesa was ridiculous.

If you are on offensive lineman, just throw you head back on every passing down and you might get a call.

Lol at not going on 4th and a foot with 5 minutes to go in the first half and Iowa sort of rolling. Gutless.

Wait until they do it again in a couple minutes. Infuriating. The QB sneak averages like 5 fucking yards per play.

The insanity of this was that Iowa kicked on two 4th and 1’s....then went for it on 4th and 7(?) in worse field position a couple drives later.

Finally watched the game, but removed my game observations because there is nothing earth-shattering.

LOL when the Sisler lady called Fat Pat, Coach Fitzpatrick.

Finally watching the replay, how the fuck did they overturn the Laporta catch? I actually think he caught it, but even if not there was nothing definitive there.

Two drops by Nico on perfect throws.

This is why Nate drives me nuts. There are times he looks like a first rounder, other times he looks like Scott Mullen without the stupid middle part.

Like CJ beathard, Nate lacks pocket awareness. I don't know if that's something that that can be coached or if it's God-given. Kind of like seeing the whole Court in basketball.
