As has been said, ISU was begging to quit and go home in the 1st half and even early into the 2nd half without mind numbing plays and decisions. Remember the 2nd half 1st series where Campbell was losing his shit on his own coach?

Not to be redundant, but damn I hate this series/game. Winning is simply relief. I miss the days of the Hayden beatdowns and while Kirk is and has been historically great for this program, he has a blind spot in wanting to deliver punishment to these fucks.

Also, the kicker who had never kicked a FG in his college life before today just nails a 54 yarder to win it. Of course. Why not.

That int, particularly considering field position and circumstances was essentially the game imo. They had no hope or anything to hang their hat on until then and began playing with more reckless abandon and Iowa never got the momentum back.

To be clear going for 2 wasn't the bad call, the 2nd FG to end the first half was really what lost the game. Amongst other things as Dougie pointed out.
Going for two was absolutely a bad call. This isn’t just a normal offense where you look at the card and do what it says. Iowa has a 99.9% chance of getting 1 point with a kick or a 10% chance of getting 2. This team should NEVER go for two unless it’s absolutely needed. That includes last week against Illinois State. The chance of success is absurdly low for this team.

Now Kirk will use that as an excuse for not going for 2 when he really should.

Also, the odds of ISU getting 2 more TDs are pretty low. Much more likely that 3s come into play.

Cade isn’t the answer, gentlemen.

On that last play you saw that his max throw is 50 yards.

@HoundedHawk is laughing.
Maybe already addressed as just back from Iowa City, but what a truly awful, pussy pass. Ten yards short of the goal line, with the LOS at midfield. Even if caught, no one from Iowa would be able to reach the end-zone. Would have had a better chance at a 66 yard field goal.

The 2-point conversion in the mid-third.

Also, probably didn't make a difference, but wtf taking the delay of game, and giving Iowa State 5 extra yards with 3 timeouts left. A 59 harder might not have even been tried without running another play by Iowa State.

Such an incredible pile of shit decisions after shit decisions today. It was remarkably impressive how ever chance they could fuck something up, they pulled it off with honors.

Kirk needs to self-impose a suspension for the rest of the season.

Kirk was allowed to hire yet another OC that would submit to his insanely stupid turtle strategy. Absolutely fucking insane. Any other OC would have hit their HC in the face with a hammer and said “yeah, fuck that, I’m gonna put a nail in these MF’ers.”

THAT is why people were so nervous about the OC hire

what a shit show
dude, Lester was hired because Johns actually wanted to bring in his own offense.

It’s on kirk, and always has been. It will continue to get worse.

What program is utilizing Johns amazing offensive coordination whiz right now? I'm not even going to do any Google research, as I assume you all know the answer and let me know? I assume 100 programs wanted him as their offensive coordinator.

Going for two was also incredibly stupid, especially since we convert those about 3% of the time.
We had already failed to reach the end zone from a few yards out 6 straight plays earlier in the game. This time, they knew what needed to be done. Throw the fade.

6 plays from inside the 3 yard line, Iowa decided to pass on 4 of them and run a sideways zone with the 4th string TE blocking the nose tackle and the best RB not on the field for the fifth.
But the game was gonna be over with the sure FG to get a 2 score lead so the coaching staff was free to try to get their favorite RB a TD (Moulton) or their favorite QB a TD pass.

I know that wasn't what was really going on but it kind of really was. They apparently stuck with their game plan for that situation even though by the time they got that first 1st and goal it was already obvious that just handing it off to Kaleb was the thing to do.

Johns has the same title currently as Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz.
Cletey needs to be banned. Otherwise it just forced the rest of Halo to keep calling a real, legitimate retarded person retarded

And how long did it take Kirk to finally go away from Kyle McCann the year before? I remember him shitting all over the field in 2001? and then the coaching staff hemming and hawing between McCann, Banks and Beutjer.
kyle McCann won a bowl game with a horrible team. He was never benched.

It felt like they refused to run any kind of play today that they might want to run the rest of the year. No play action, no jet sweeps. Zero catches to your best tight end and zero catches or anything with your supposed #1 wr

Motioning the TE out to create natural separation worked to perfection multiple times last Saturday. Wasn’t called once today. Kirk doesn’t approve of easy completions.

When this team goes 10-2 and this game keeps them out of the playoff, it won’t occur to him for a second he signs us up for a charity case game with no upside.
10-2 would be a lock for the playoff. Unfortunately, that means an 8-1 douche record, which damn near guarantees a spot in the douche championship game, which damn near guarantees a loss in the douche championship game, which means 10-3 and likely no playoff. So you’re probably right. Goddammit.

I don't think 10-2 with Iowa's schedule would do it.

Not that it matters.

Can someone explain to me what Iowa coaches were hoping to accomplish by calling two timeouts on their last possession of the first half after getting first and goal at the 3? And why they threw the ball 2 of the three downs afterwards? Shouldn't the goal be to score with no time remaining in the half? They really might be retarded.

I can’t believe they thought they would be able to sneak Lachey of all people out on a wheel route. Of course the defense was going to go with him.

10-3 would get in unless there was a cluster of B10 teams with 10 wins.
